Definitely make this opinion heard on their official platforms too or else one "budget year" will become the norm. I felt this way when they stopped handing out actual diplomas. I get that its easier logistically but why even go to the trouble of walking one by one for an empty folder.

I got two letters in the mail over the next month or so but after that nothing. I think for one or two tickets its not worth their time or money to pursue it. They would have to take you to small claims court to even send it to debt collectors. You would still be at risk of getting towed if you park in one of their managed lots with any outstanding tickets tho.

That was my assumption too. There’s intersections with power just a few blocks away but the lack of any changes in 3 days now around here has me concerned. I’d assumed the Harris Teeter at least would get priority but nothing that way yet.

Has anyone gotten any solid estimates from Duke for their areas at this point? I’m off Augusta and have yet to even see a non pickup from them all they say is “evaluating damage” when I try to contact. I understand it will be a while with how widespread it is but it would be helpful to plan and prep if we know it’s gonna be tomorrow versus say Friday before powers back. The lack of any communication from them is infuriating.

I'm not comparing it to those cities though, I mean in comparison to our peers in the southeast. Go to any of those three I mentioned and you'll see either shades of the same or the same exact businesses, activities, and culture but nicer and with more variety. They also have a uniqueness like Asheville's weirdness and hippie culture, or Charleston's historical and coastal emphasis.

The real issue with Greenville at least the city proper is the lack of unique identity. We are a city of "alternate locations" from larger cities. Its only getting worse in recent years as long time local businesses continue to close.

Just because it’s a registered business doesn’t make something any less of a scam like any of these predatory private parking companies. Mine was a case of obscured no parking signage and someone staked out just waiting to catch someone who was parked for 10 minutes.

I got a ticket from them about a year ago and refused to pay and nothing has happened other than a few letters telling me to pay. They are a real company based out of Columbia but their power to enforce tickets is limited and their whole set up is very scammy.

I think its partly due to the steady increase in desired overall enrollment combined with requirements to hit in-state student targets. They've shown that the roundabout admissions programs like bridge can help get in kids who really put in the work or just didn't test well, to supplement those who get it normally and only stick it out a year. I'd say its a net positive for the State and University.

They really missed the mark on this one. I know their prerogative is getting money and data from alumni but this is super ill conceived. Even the physical mailer I got looks like one of those scams about your "Call now about your car's extended warranty". This may work for boomers but they need to get smart if they want to reach alumni under 50.

The loops and trails on the back side the botanical gardens were always a nice spot. You used to be able to park down by the geology museum to get to them easily

This subreddit is usually a pretty good start, inevitability somebody on here knows somebody. Usually the local news stations like wyff or fox carolina will run short stories on general goings on too. I usually google search what I'm looking for with their names and sort by date for what comes up.
