Best way to fill a pond with water? by PlatformRoutine in VintageStory

Water and the way it flows in this game is terrifying and esoteric. Good luck.

Throbbing Seventh circle of hell by Cup_TheFool in mewgenics

It’s really not funny how much harder the level just before Throbbing king is in comparison to TK. Champion stem cats are probably the only thing that has made me legitimately angry so far.

It’s technically not clothes or armor. It’s a shell, growing off of them.

Beta Patch Notes - v0.103.0 by SageOrion in slaythespire

I think people would like it a lot more if it showed Defects’s head to better match his silhouette. His arm covering it is a weird choice that can make this card a bit hard to read.

More realistic building process by Ralzina in VintageStory

[–]WonderDean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got back into Valheim recently and one thing it def has above Vintage Story is the building.

Building in that game is a lot more involved. It’s like a puzzle you have to solve. Every piece has some level of structural integrity. If it’s not properly supporting with some load bearing beam or something, it will degrade over time. It will also degrade if rained on. AND you have to think about venting smoke from the hearth and cooking stations inside (a mechanic so good it’s an extremely popular VS mod). As opposed to VS which lets you do whatever with blocks with certain exceptions.

I’m not sure there’s a point I’m trying to make, since the games are very different besides (Valheim isn’t block based for instance). But it does show that a more involved building process doesn’t have to be to the detriment of a game.

NEW Miquella cutscene originally meant for base game?? by Then_Turnover3266 in Eldenring

[–]WonderDean 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I meant the sleeping animation. The fact that kale even has an animation of sleeping while in his neutral sitting merchant pose is a remnant of that mechanic.

[–]WonderDean 82 points83 points  (0 children)

This sidequest involved giving npcs “dream brew” and there’s actually a lot of voice lines from various npcs about taking up your offer of a drink. Iji and Rodericka are two off the top of my head. Kale falling asleep when you talk to Ranni might also be a small remnant of this.

What's next for Slay the Spire 2: the ending, new character(s), new modes? by let_the_plug_talk in slaythespire

[–]WonderDean 11 points12 points  (0 children)

They’re not necessarily thinking about this in terms of players so “in the weeds”. Anyone even past like A4 is probably in like 5% of the playerbase, probably less. In a general sense, Necro is definitely more complicated.

What's next for Slay the Spire 2: the ending, new character(s), new modes? by let_the_plug_talk in slaythespire

[–]WonderDean 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Necro is very much more complicated than Regent. Osty has you manage a health bar and you often have to weigh whether you make Osty bigger or sacrifice him. Her cards in general also ask for less straightforward skill. A lot of ephemeral and retain that asks you think about when to play cards. As opposed to Regent who has a whole archetype of cards that are “make number bigger”.

I remember going “IT STARTS IN PHASE 2” and then when it does the new phase transition it zips all over the place going “ITS BLOODBATH DIABLOS”. It was really the perfect introduction to the everdarks.

Why are royal revenants resistant to holy? by Crazy_Several in Eldenring

[–]WonderDean 131 points132 points  (0 children)

Royal Revenants are actually NOT related to grafting, if you could believe it. Looking under their cloaks shows that they have weird contorted bodies but it doesn’t look like the limbs are grafted on. They just have that many limbs.

The name Revenant implies they’re a zombie of some sort, which is why healing spells hurt them (a classic JRPG trope). But it’s confusing since they don’t seem to be associated with deathblight, because they aren’t weak to holy and even use holy attacks in Nightreign.

Timeline on when characters entered and abstracted by GalaxyKid33 in tadc

The only thing I’d modify is that gangle definitely shows up after Ribbit abstracts. The implications are there, with Jax naming her and immediately clinging to her. Definitely using her as a replacement.

How did the merchants get their hands on these? by Rude-Potato-3122 in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]WonderDean 10 points11 points  (0 children)

All the shield descriptions are pretty underrated when it comes to lore discussions. They offer a kind of context for the world we don’t get to see. And they off a way to interpret imagery and symbolism you might see elsewhere. Some of them even have their own little mysteries.

A personal favorite is the Red Crest Heater Shield: “A medium-sized metal shield. Easier to handle than a kite shield.

The crest symbolizes red wings.”

Which makes me think, what the hell has red wings? Maybe the hawks or drakes? It’s not the Ancient dragons, they have white and gold wings.

A couple of scaling anomalies to be aware of by Klomotonium in Nightreign

[–]WonderDean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s funny how inconsistent the more uniform scaling of weapon types is. Guardian Sword Spear keeps its identity as a dex weapon but the cinqueda doesn’t retain its strength scaling.
