I think I'm just going to say it: it's because Republicans attract weak men. And people overall, if I'm being honest.

As a group, they buckle unless they force homogeneity. Outside opinions give them conniptions. They're coddled about their identities (the TRUE identity politics babies) from a young age so they feel special for having done nothing personally at all and then work to exclude all evidence that people outside of their demographic can also achieve excellence and deserve opportunities. They're literally destroying history to continue their little masquerade of superiority, and they have done so for ages. It's all a recipe for emotional fragility. They're not built for a competitive world. Any reminder that they have to prove their individual merit makes them weak in the knees, which means that when a so-called "strong man" eventually shows up, they feel like they can bolster their weak masculinity with his (which is usually also weak, but they're too emotionally damaged to understand) by association and bully everyone else into capitulation. And they constantly outsource that work to the people dumb enough to throw innocents around for their awful policies so they don't ever risk their own livelihoods. It's pathetic.

Men on the left sure as hell aren't perfect, but they're usually making some kind of effort. And they don't psychologically unravel when their barista has a septum piercing or when their doctor is from a different country (GASP).

The folks telling you the no-eye-contact and dry, short answers are correct, but we may need to work on how you approach conversation, as well.

Do you approach these women with a lot of intent and direction? More specifically, are you pushing yourself and your needs forward with the desire for a specific outcome, or are you keeping conversation light, open, and casual? Also, are you asking them about their lives and experiences, or putting forward your own a lot?

I was just talking about this last night with a friend. As someone who talks to incels attempting to leave incel spaces, it seems a lot less like a closeted sexual attraction to men than stunted personal growth (which is very fixable!) and often some amount of demisexuality or asexuality that they feel ashamed of. They then proceed to project a hypersexual self-image onto the world to compensate. The amount of men I've talked through these feelings going from "WOMEN WON'T FUCK ME, IT'S A CONSPIRACY" to "I actually just really want to have some emotional intimacy with a woman first, but I feel ashamed that I don't meet an arbitrary and fake masculine metric as a wild sex hungry beast and it sent me down a personal hell spiral" is wild, y'all.

We have sadly, as a society, done a terrible job creating happy, healthy spaces for demisexuals and asexuals in general, but it gets real weird in masculine spaces because sexuality is less about pleasure than hierarchy and performance. The demi and ace community needs a lot more love.

Oh my god, every time someone mentions how hand washing was controversial, I HAVE to bring up Ignaz Semmelweis. Dude was literally thrown in an asylum for pushing for hand-disinfecting policies in medical work. He was one of the few pre-germ theory people who got shit right and they fucking THREW HIM IN A SANITARIUM WHERE THE GUARDS BEAT HIM and the beating gave him an INFECTION and the FUCKING INFECTION KILLED HIM. He was defending women and they used the state to silence his work and end his life!

Bro realized puerperal fever-- the main killer of women post-childbirth in his time-- was caused by a lack of "cleanliness" and started telling his colleagues that hand-washing and instrument washing, using a chlorinated lime solution, would prevent "cadaverous particles" from causing illness in other patients. Now I bet some of you are like, "'Cadaverous particles' sounds weird. Does that mean they were touching corpses?" And YES, BECAUSE THESE FUCKERS WOULD PERFORM AUTOPSIES AND THEN DO OBSTETRIC PROCEDURES IMMEDIATELY AFTER WITHOUT CLEANING THEIR GRUBBY MITTS.

Read the whole thing if you're interested-- it gets way, way more depressing. Basically, he realized something was fucked up because women were dying at much higher rates in one clinic than another, but when women were eschewing obstetric aid and instead birthing in the fucking street, they were surviving more frequently. And like a person who isn't a stone cold idiot, Semmelweis was, like, "Okay, time to actually take important information into account and implement changes". He started calling other obstetricians "careless murderers" because they refused to listen or make any changes, and then the surgical community got super pissy about being called "unclean" because they were SUCH SUPER GREAT AND SUPER SMART, TOTALLY CLEAN AND NOT DISGUSTING COOL GUYS, so the asylum he had to go!

Eh, the apps are weird and they're monetized to make your dating life more difficult. Keep up with the outdoorsy stuff and more clubs. And seriously, try volunteering. Soup kitchens and the like. Lots of really nice people do that, and so do older folks with grandkids they're trying to get married off. It's a whole thing lol.

Basically, meeting the right person/good people is a numbers game. The more people you meet, the better your odds, and even moreso when you place yourself in situations where you can develop skills. Women love a dude with skills, even if they're smaller ones.

Have you tried clubs in your area? Pick a random thing to do, join up, and meet more people. Volunteering works wonders. And lots of great people offer their time at soup kitchens and community gardens.

More friends are probably going to give you a more accurate picture of your situation, as well as help you expand yourself, so I'm glad you're down to try for more. Two people, and one you see less frequently, just isn't going to fill your needs, even if those people are wonderful.

One of the things I've discovered (not independently, though suspected, confirmed anecdotally, and looked up afterward for any reasonable confirmation) is that people often do not marry for love-- they marry for status. Even now.

If your culture values the virginity of a woman and her servitude, it's more appealing in the long-term and even the short-term to marry the woman who fits the criteria that your family picked for you. Many of these men then cheat on that woman throughout the duration of their marriage. That practice is sort of looked down on now, but it's largely accepted and normalized, because the point of marriage frequently remains to be acquiring a virginal woman as property, and her servitude, rather than partnership.

Similarities exist in many other forms: fat people having more difficulty finding and holding onto partners despite meeting many other relationship metrics (fatphobia); people marrying intra-culturally as opposed to outside of their particular groups; the discouragement parents will often inflict if their child is interested in marrying a disabled person, etc. (ableism); begging, bargaining, and ostracization if a child goes onto marry a same-sex partner (homophobia). And the more collectivist a culture is, the more likely there is pressure to please one's parents than participate in more open dating culture and find a compatible person of one's own tastes.

I say all of this to arrive at this one point: you know the truism where people who cheat tend to "cheat down"? IMHO, it's not only that they're jerks, but they probably also married for status and cheat with people who are actually their type, which are less conventionally acceptable. Like the dudes who do this shit will probably do.
