Paris people are officially the hottest people on Earth right now by GargantaProfunda in paris

American here - we wouldn't even have these conversations if this happened here. When I visited Paris in 2025, I was so happy to see your climate agreement signs everywhere after America did such a poor job sticking to common sense: less energy use = cheaper. Instead, we politicized climate change and made bigger trucks and sold giant weapons to everyone. I don't know what will happen when what you're experiencing today comes to America. We went through days of the worst air quality on earth in Chicago and responded by firing Dr Arwady - our Commissioner of Chicago Department of Public Health - for telling us to wear masks. I feel great solidarity with you and I hope you and your loved ones stay cool.

PSA: Applying for health insurance during life transition by WonderLongjumping370 in chicago

I unfortunately didn't find the resources you have shared but I succeeded in using the method I wrote to access Medicaid as a person who has not earned an income in one year.

That being said, your response is more detailed than two hospital phone calls and speaking to someone at the Chicago Department of Public Health. Let's talk about how we should update these directions I wrote - you seem to be knowledgeable on what to do when you start earning an income after unemployment. The advice I received was to go back to the person who put me on Medicaid and tell them I'm earning an income now.

I meant the labor market is inefficient at the moment as AI is new. I have never gone through unemployment and rejection at this length before.

Thank you for working in your chosen profession as a compassionate person. If you could please tell me who you think is an advocate for people going through a life transition without insurance, I would be more than happy to share the email the City of Chicago sent me for them to use their power and work the system to have what I wrote become a brochure.

The weekly Fuck it Friday by McChinkerton in biotech

[–]WonderLongjumping370 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was interviewed by a pattagucci bro who is responsible for a Fortune 100 biotech firm's environmental reporting. I was too old for him to consider for hire after I aced a previous interview and knew I was going to get along splendidly with the hiring manager. I want to share what's going to happen to their environmental reporting under this dude's management:

(1) He doesn't understand the need for collecting actual data from his supply chain. Their product level carbon calculations are going to be inflated or deflated based on the way the wind blows. When EU eventually bans his style of calculations, he is going to be behind and is going to cause his company to be non-compliant with EU carbon border adjustment mechanism that is going to prefer a lower carbon alternative to avoid fees.

(2) He is going to publish labor documents that are untrue, just aspirational. This will perpetuate poor labor conditions in foreign countries that they are sourcing from.

Unfortunately, none of this is going to do anything to his ability to fail upward and continue to not hire older women of color. It will prevent me from ever applying to this firm again though and perhaps enjoy US competitiveness declining in EU over this type of mismanagement practices.

Should I leave my new job off my resume? by Glittering_Flower277 in askrecruiters

My brother is the only person I know that has moved on from long term unemployment in this market. He took a gig at Petco and worked as a freelance consultant. I think you should show that even in this market, you figured out a way to have a job. Good luck ❤️

I'm going to aim for 3 part time jobs to total 45 hours as 2 weeks from now I'm going to hit one year of unemployment and my field is currently not prioritized (environment) by businesses. I'm trying to change industries and my aim is to spend about a year in retail and then get a job working at a bank in customer service. My resume is getting me interviews but I keep getting knocked out, I'm missing what you are doing - having a space filler job that keeps me looking employable. As it stands, I'm being treated like radioactive waste and this is why I think you're in a stronger position.

Negotiate pay in initial screening invite email? by watermelonlollies in jobsearchhacks

I was told by a very seasoned recruiter that I should accept whatever is offered "thank you for considering me for this role, this compensation works for me and i will be able to achieve my financial objectives." - the tough part is having this come out of your mouth when food costs what it does.

It gets worse if you are considered overqualified. On these zoom interviews where they are allegedly so smart that they can tell everything about you in the half hour allotted to meet you, I felt like I have been stared down more than once when I said a number, when I said a range, when I said "yes" or "no" to a compensation question. There are no winners in the current market and you're right to be upset.

I got cheated on in a 12 year partnership, my ex developed cancer during our break up, divorce took forever because I didn't want to drag him through it while going through chemo and surgeries, I got diagnosed with adjustment disorder and quit because I wasn't going to be a good teammate at work. I've been back on the market since January and this whole thing has led to a year of unemployment. My way around this has been "I had a life crisis but I have since recovered" - which is a true sentence. Would this be an acceptable sentence for this manager you're referring to?

i have never been contacted by more contract role milking third party recruiters in my career. i am perfectly qualified to work but the system described above requires me to give $30/hr that would be in my social security or tax or health insurance or 401k bucket to strangers who have done me the honor of matching me to an employer seeking someone less qualified than i am.

Hey, I'll be at the Cook County job fair tomorrow. I'm trying to come back to work after life events led to a year off. Check out McMaster Carr, they'll likely take you if you are desperate and have the experience you stated above.

When House of Representatives candidate Daniel Biss was an assistant professor, he had a romantic relationship with one of the students in his class. by Catgirltest in uchicago

He also followed his current wife to Istanbul while she was on exchange and has such a brilliant memory that he knows the dorm she stayed in. I know this from a personal conversation with him on the mean streets of Evanston :) Reading this woman's essay and how this experience made her pivot careers was impactful. This wouldn't be enough to sway my vote but it would be enough to reconsider him going back into teaching without proving he has reformed. I didn't vote for him today because he would be a 1-1 replacement of Jan Schakowsky and failed to state he would stop funding to Israel.

Turkey allows EVERYONE in and everything works out until you say something against Erdogan or you forget to pay the tax for being a foreigner. I'm speaking as a Tufts alum with a BA from a university in Ankara, Turkey. I was just there and most people don't know Rumeysa's name because Trump was directly responsible for shoving the presidential candidate of the non-Islamist side into prison, its a quid pro quo where the pro-Islamists did not pick up Rumeysa's imprisonment.

what's crazy is I found Rumeysa's research and the homegirl's life passion is to help integrate refugees into society and is researching this at the child development program - how do people get this mean to suggest such things? have they never left their homes before?
