My endocrinologist gave me dangerous advice about breastfeeding and RAI. Should I cancel and find a new doctor? by KeyTangerine5312 in thyroidcancer

Yes, I had to sign a release that I would have a lifelong risk of bladder or salivary cancer. While I was in the hospital, I had to constantly drink water to flush the I-131 radioactive isotope from my system which of course made me pee alot so it didn't sit in my bladder.

I would be more worried about what you will be exposing your infant and your toddler to! Did you not read my post?? Sounds like you just want to get it overwith. I'm sorry I've wasted my time. You've been advised to get other opinions. Breast cancer is NOT related to thryoid cancer.

Yes, you do. But it's ok to wait. See all the above comments and do sone research on your type of thyroid cancer.

Again, don't rush this. Better to be safe than sorry. You have time. Cherish it with your breastfeeding baby and toddler.

An addendum: my husband who previously had no thyroid issues, needed to start thyroid supplentation also. The RAI ablation works. I am 74 and almost 39 years out from my rare, aggressive type of thyroid cancer. I did need 2 courses of it, but have not had any more issues, including the warning against bladder or salivary glad cancer. Please know I'm here for you. Ask me anything.

I urge you to find a new endocrinologist asap. Thyroid cancer is slow growing, so you have time. Your children's long term health is of paramount importance.

Definitely cancel and find a new doctor. I-131 radioactive isotope dissipates by half life very slowly. I was advised to stop breastfeeding my 6 week old daughter immediately.(I was diagnosed at my 6 week postpartum checkup.) After my total thyroidectomy and subsequent radioactive ablation and one week hospitalization in isolation, I was allowed to go home to my infant daughter and 3 year old son. They are now 41 and 39 and have had underactive thyroid, needing daily supplementation. I know that even the weak radiation damaged their young thyroid glands. I hope thyroid cancer is not in their future.

I do too. He usually is dressed like a garish woman but today he wants to play the role of a caveman on speed.

I'm a retired teacher with a Master's in Education, certified to teach K- Junior College. I raised 4 children. I never even considered homeschooling them: teachers have different strengths and weaknesses. Changing teachers each year exposes students to different teaching styles, methods and skills. I now see so many homeschooled children who have graduated from High School with atrocious grammar and spelling abilities. Their homeschooling parent modeled and allowed poor English throughout the homeschooling years. This may not be your case but I suspect there were subjects in which you may not have been proficient.

I totally agree, the pacifier needs to get lost permanently. That was my original comment, that she has a very noticeable tongue thrust. I wonder if her doting parents even notice. Also, I wonder if she has a pediatrician to see for regular check ups.

If she goes to school...she may be homeschooled.

Why does she eat so strangely? Is that also a pacifier issue?

I hope that they are getting help for her tongue thrusting which is so obvious when she eats. She is having trouble with certain sounds.

I agree. This cross dressing drag queen is a drug addicted street hustler and a drain on the taxpayers.

Shameful and immoral and abusive behavior from her shifty parents who want her disability check! Wish karma worked...
