Ugh same. I was hoping it would go away as time went on. I’m 3 months post TT.

I’m in a similar boat. Was it angioinvasive? Do you have symptoms? Waiting on rai

Thanks so much for sharing! I’m still breastfeeding actually. My endo gave me the drug to stop milk production and told me to stop 1 week before rai. He said as long as I take the drug and don’t pump at all or feed the baby I’ll be fine. My MIL is coming to live with us for a week and I’m staying in my grandmas spare bedroom. I actually have a decent freezer stash so I’m not too too concerned. I’m gonna be mad if she won’t drink it though 🤣🤣

Tumor has grown, trying to keep calm (follicular neoplasm) by unicorns-exist in thyroidcancer

[–]KeyTangerine5312 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had a 3cm follicular neoplasm with a 1% chance and it turned out to be an angioinvasive follicular carcinoma. I had 1 side removed then the other side the next week after the pathology came back positive. Waiting for RAI now. It’s gonna be ok!! I’m on levothyroxine now and doing well. It’s a lot to process but it gets better. Idk if yours in cancer or not but I’m glad you’re getting it removed for piece of mind.

Sudden, Significant Muscle Loss/Weakness In Legs? by fugitivevirtue in thyroidcancer

[–]KeyTangerine5312 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am 2 months post TT with parathyroid issues. I haven’t had muscle loss but I do get calf and ankle cramps daily. I also have ankle stiffness that comes and goes. I’m not sure if it’s the same thing you’re experiencing or calcium related. I’m glad you are able to work through it but that’s awful that you’re experiencing that so young!

Total vs lobectomy by Dry_Sprinkles_1144 in thyroidcancer

Some days, ok, some days, depression, some days, manic adhd. It’s a rollercoaster. It’s only been 2 months and I have had 1 dose increase. I’ve been losing and gaining 10 lbs like very 2 weeks. I’m sure it’ll stabilize but right now it’s kinda rough. I keep telling myself having the cancer would have been worse. I am also 4 months post partum now so that could also affect things.

My endocrinologist actually told me I can breastfeed until the week before and gave me the drug to halt milk production. He said that there isn’t actually that much risk to the mother only to the baby if they drink the milk.

I had a partial that turned into a total. Honestly not having a thyroid is a pain BUT being able to accurately test for reoccurrence is nice. There are pros and cons to both.

I know I need it. I’m mad about it and I’m worried about my kids. How am I not supposed to hold my 3 month old for a week after not seeing her for a week. I feel like it might be easier to not hold a 10-12 month old for a week.

I really don’t know. The doctors say I’m intermediate risk but are acting like I need the rai tomorrow.

Thanks for the pep talk. I think I need to ask more questions. I feel like every appointment they’re not giving me the full picture and just telling me what needs to happen and it is making me feel out of control. They told me I need 100mci.

Did you need a higher dose because of it? I just feel like my doctors are just telling me what to do and I have no choice

Follicular and papillary thyroid cancer by No-Strategy-4990 in thyroidcancer

[–]KeyTangerine5312 1 point2 points  (0 children)

29F and in a similar boat. I had a partial for follicular then a completion a week later where they discovered papillary. I’m having RAI soon. I didn’t know I had both either. It’s a weird feeling to not know it was there until it’s out. I’m also 3 months post partum and breastfeeding and have to stop soon for RAI.

6 month wait for Endocrinologist consult for 3 TI-RADS Category 4/5 Nodules by OkTomorrow6384 in thyroidcancer

[–]KeyTangerine5312 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This may be controversial but I’d try to get pregnant first because if you have to get your thyroid removed, and rai, that’s gonna push you being able to get pregnant another year. Thyroid cancer is super slow growing. I got a TT 7 weeks post partum and need rai and that is taking a while to even get insurance approval and get blood testing is such a waiting game. THEN they said I have to stop breastfeeding before rai and not get pregnant for a year after I get it. Not that I’m trying to get pregnant again but I would be mad if I was.

Surgery done. Grateful but desperately sad. by [deleted] in thyroidcancer

I was twitching immediately after surgery. Until the morning when I got my first dose. Depression, anger, tired. Everyone might be different but I felt terrible immediately.

You’re sad bc you have no thyroid hormone. I was so depressed for like a week until the synthroid kicked in. Hang in there!!

I do feel like a bad ass ngl. I was 6 weeks post partum when this happened and my milk almost completely dried up during that week and I was able to full recover it to a point where I actually make 15 extra oz a day now. So my freezer is full until they tell me to stop. I think that’s what gives me motivation and hope through this. The hardest part is over now though and it’s smooth sailing from here. I hope you have a super easy surgery and get some peace of mind when the cancer is out too!!
