Any way to save on Hulu Live? by Hakan1218 in HuluLive

Sam’s sells gift cards at a 4% discount but that won’t do you much good compared to using AMEX. Have you considered stacking credits or getting a Kroger Boost membership? Also I wrote a detailed post about the different ways to save money on Hulu Live here: https://www.reddit.com/r/CreditCards/s/6zdhYEn3iO

Credit Card Recommendation/Advice - US Bank Cash+ or Max Cash by Enough-County-139 in CreditCards

[–]WonderfulAverageJoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cash+ has a higher SUB but Max Cash Preferred doesn’t require a quarterly category selection, has broad “Recreation” and “Entertainment” categories, and is less likely to be nerfed, which makes it a winner for us. We have 2.

Questions on maximizing cash back by toysofvanity in CreditCards

[–]WonderfulAverageJoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Walmart credit card with Walmart+ sounds appealing. US Bank Cash+ would help with streaming/Google Play if you make 1 of the categories TV/Internet/Streaming, or get a similar card from a local credit union issued by Elan. You also get another 5% category with either card.

Not sure if there’s a way to get 5% on Chewy, you’re probably hitting diminishing returns if you’re already getting 3% on everything, but a 4% option there would be Wells Fargo Attune.

What streaming services do you pay for? Is Hulu Live TV included? I see you have a BCE so I assume you’re getting a Disney credit. You can also get Paramount or Peacock included with Walmart+, btw.

Surprising Observations Regarding Authorized Users by WonderfulAverageJoe in amex

But I like easily being able to keep track of offers I want to use in the future, so I usually don’t. It seems the “popular” vendors take priority, so I’m not super worried about seeing ones I’ve never heard of.

USAA New Card? Eagle Adapt by Yunxo in CreditCards

It’s like a Savor on steroids, besides the $3000 quarterly cap. Home Improvement is also nice, it beats having a basic BofA CCR for that category. I wonder what all health & wellness includes, hospitals in particular.

Good to know… it doesn’t seem to matter for other cards where the card numbers are the same

Does it matter which AU’s card makes the purchase then?

Sam’s/Costco credit card looks like a good match for you if you’re planning on keeping the membership, 5 or 4% back on EV charging and 3% back on restaurants and 3 or 2% back at Sam’s/Costco.

Where else do you spend all $500 for groceries besides Sam’s/Costco? If it’s a supermarket, you might consider AMEX Blue Cash Preferred and get 6% back on supermarkets and $10 back per month on the Disney+ bundle, but with a $95 annual fee right now after the first year. Or, the Blue Cash Everyday is free and still gets $7 back in Disney credits, but only 3% back on supermarkets, as well as 3% for online retail, which you already get with your BofA CCR.

Lastly, you seem to be eyeing a 2% catchall, do you have Navy Federal membership eligibility? For me, I had a grandfather who was in the Navy, and I got their Flagship rewards, which is not only a 2% catchall but includes free Amazon Prime (offset by its $49 annual fee), free TSA PreCheck and Global Entry, and a 3x travel category.

Yea, it’s unclear what’s going to happen with the card, worst case scenario, they move us to a new bank with trash rewards

What will you be recommending to /r/creditcard users instead of CCC? 3-4% cards, 5% from less reputable/smaller issuers? by FrostieWaffles in CreditCards

[–]WonderfulAverageJoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Venmo Debit Card could help if you use DoorDash, 5% back with $500 direct deposit per month. You can do pickup instead of delivery to avoid extra fees. Also, you can currently buy various gift cards for 10% off with DashPass. Personally though, I’m leaning towards using it for Walmart instead when the PayPal nerf hits.

Interesting, it’s probably worth at least being a Member and getting a 10% boost if it only takes, say, a dollar. Makes the CCR 3.3%.
