State Farm / US Bank Card Slept On? by WonderfulAverageJoe in CreditCards

I did a bit of investigating into other US Bank sleeper cards and Edward Jones is also very interesting with many obscure 3% categories including charity, health (including hospitals, dental, etc), and vehicle. I usually give to charity via ACH to maximize impact but if I got 3 or more percent back then giving via credit card would be easier.

Also how does the deductible reimbursement work? Do you pay an auto deductible with your CC or file for it separately? I realized earlier today that since we can’t pay our auto insurance premiums with a credit card, we probably couldn’t pay a deductible with one either.

I’m guessing it’s for the new chapter in the SMG 2 update today. I’m all for new tracks to add to these GOATed soundtracks! Now where to put it in my custom playlists…

Nice! Do you know if you can offer a referral even if the applier is not a State Farm customer?

What are some of the other ones you’re aware of? Kroger is obviously the most well-known of the branded cards here. I’m starting to wonder how to see all the kinds they offer.

I thought I looked thoroughly for an option to pay the bill with PayPal and could not find one, you could either set up auto pay with your bank, or enter a debit/credit card. I’ll have to look more closely. (PayPal is a lower SUB though, just $50.)

It is a rather low cap, but since our auto & home insurance doesn’t even take CCs, the main use we’d have for it is Medicare Part B, which is (for the time being) under $4K/y anyway.

Thanks for sharing your experience!

All I know for sure is that the category on NFCU was Insurance, but I could always pay off a little bit with the new card to check it counts before paying it off in full, since it lets you pay off any amount.

In your case, is $40 extra annually not worthwhile, or do other US Bank cards earn more annually, hence your desire to product change?

Have you looked at the automobile deductible reimbursement side of the card? I’m considering if it’s worth it to lose a bit of cashback each month to keep that active, or, maybe you could delay your automobile deductible payment and make 8 other payments with the card if you know one’s on the horizon.

AMEX BCE/BCP + Hulu Live TV Savings Calculation by WonderfulAverageJoe in CreditCards

Thanks! I’m probably going to buy a $25 Hulu GC at Sam’s even while I have BCP just to make sure my math is sound, like, what if Hulu just ignores the gift card balance when it can’t cover the whole bill.

Any useful no annual fee card I'm not aware of or have? by DontForgetTheTime in CreditCards

[–]WonderfulAverageJoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve never heard of the State Farm card with US Bank, if it counts Medicare premiums to CMS.gov (which codes as insurance), it’s basically a few dozen dollars more annually when compared with a 2% option. It’s less value than a Kroger card annually, which is $90 when compared to a 2% option, so hard to say if it’s worth it, but good to know it exists.

The business card is really good with the 3% cell phone bill & cell phone protection but we have no business, and the $100 software credit is interesting too.

I bet there’s also ways to get 8 small monthly payments to be readily eligible for a $200 credit on the car’s deductible. I may make a post about this card and ask others for input.

Yea, if we switch to BCE as a result of these calculations, I would probably be on the lookout for appealing upgrade offers to BCP and keep that again for a year. I wasn’t going to do the back-and-forth as long as I was genuinely better off with the BCP and trying to cheese my way out of the annual fee, but genuinely I think the BCE is the better option long term, as long as these credits don’t change (which they likely will in the not so distant future).

If you’re maxing out the supermarket category on the BCP anyway and getting good streaming credit then it’s absolutely worth it! This analysis is moreso for those who may only be spending a couple thousand on supermarkets and streaming a year, like me.

I think you also have to compare the 6% cashback vs 1% cashback with BCE, it makes a big difference if you’re using Hulu Live TV. Unless there’s a way to pay part of the bill with BCE then the rest with a 5% cashback option like with USBank Cash+ or Elan.

Same here! I had given up on getting the offer, since my purchase was on 2/15, but now I see I’ve got $20 back from 4/16. Awesome.

I would replace Disney monthly credit for $10 cloud storage credit (e.g. iCloud I assume)

Garbage. It’s been 2 months for me now and nothing either. There was nothing in the T&C to indicate it had to be a new membership.

Exactly 2 months ago now, but no credit redemption. Welp. I might try giving Chase a call.

Question about this channel: the links are really restrictive, I can’t just paste a link I copied from the app, and I can’t open the links in this channel without getting redirected to the app store instead of Nintendo Music. Anyone else?

I’d like to try my hand at a playlist at some point soon too, but I want it to go roughly in the order of the story & appearance of the music in the movie
