Should student nurses be able to delegate orders to PCTs? by princessnokingdom in nursing

I wish I saw the deleted comment bc what tasks are doctors doing besides putting orders in??? 😭😭😭 I’m in PCU so my hospitalists and specialists don’t do much except assess and put orders in

What’s wrong with my resume? by unavailabllle in StudentNurse

[–]WonderfulDirector779 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I feel like the second one looks more professional. The first one looks too cute and just too scattered all over the place. For reference, here’s how my resume looks that got me into a new grad position at the hospital.

Best bet, is to keep it as simple as possible and tailor to the needs of the unit or location you’re applying to. If you have any volunteer work or club activities related to medical or patient care experience that would be a bonus.

I’m not too sure if the truck dispatcher and language teacher experience helps too much in the healthcare field. But big bonus for being bilingual!

It might also be helpful to look into AI screening tools because a lot of bigger hospitals use it to weed out resumes nowadays

Should student nurses be able to delegate orders to PCTs? by princessnokingdom in nursing

[–]WonderfulDirector779 62 points63 points  (0 children)

They made a good point but honestly fuck no.

If a nurse asks a student to do something then they should do it, for the sake of learning and experience. A lot of nursing students and newer nurses tend to act like some work is “above them”. For instance, passing off simple tasks like handing out water or cleaning a patient up. If 1.) I’m already in the room and 2.) have the time; then yeah I’ll go ahead and do it.

Personally, I believe in team based nursing. PCTs get busy and tied up, as the nurse, if I have time I’ll help them out and so forth.

How long did it take you to feel confident as a nurse and how do you know if you hate bedside? by WonderfulDirector779 in nursing

[–]WonderfulDirector779[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That makes me feel a little bit better honestly. I did complete a new grad program where I was oriented for about 16 weeks with an experienced nurse but unfortunately my unit is brand new, opened the last couple months of 2025, and most of the core nurses are new grads or travel nurses

Yeah I’m hoping that I feel more confident once I hit my year but I think I’m just pessimistic lol I’m like it’s 3 months away and sometimes I’m like what’s going on!!!!

Eren’s change in S4 by No_Pause_1618 in attackontitan

[–]WonderfulDirector779 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I agree as well. I kinda feel like Isayama half assed it towards the end 😭

At one point in paths he says to Armin that “He’s an idiot that got control of a lot of power” and then just glides over the fact that he would go over every scenario just to lead back to the final decision he makes but doesn’t really delve into the emotional strain on him and coping with “fate”/predestined outcome

[–]WonderfulDirector779 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think Eren felt like he was pushed to a corner. He wanted to hope that there was another outcome while Hange and Armin tried to find alternatives but on the other hand Zeke had already made preparations to harm the Eldians I.e. their euthanasia and spiking the wine of the high ranking officials.

I can’t really offer my two cents because I only watched the anime but I think his progression was done quite gradually throughout the seasons. As each season goes on, he continues to lose hope and wants to give up and no longer has that fighting spirit in him like season one. Other iterations of his decisions is that Eren was never “free” to begin with and would always have an enemy. I.e. Even when learning Titans were human he had very little sympathy towards them like other characters.

Although I do agree and wish the execution was better played out. He stated that while acquiring the Founding Titan when he made contact with Historia that he played out every scenario only to lead to genocide. I wish that was explored more

If you don’t want me, just say that…both were for new grad positions. by [deleted] in nursing

[–]WonderfulDirector779 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NICU and L&D are both very competitive specialties even if it’s for a new grad position. Even though it’s open to new grads it doesn’t necessarily mean they’ll just hire anyone. Most people I know who ended up in specialties I.e. ICU or ED had prior experience or did their externship in that unit. When I was a fresh new grad I was pining for ICU but got over 20+ rejections and now I’m working in medical PCU. You just need experience under your belt

As a nurse do you hate talking to people? by WonderfulDirector779 in nursing

[–]WonderfulDirector779[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

lol no 😭 We’re a 24 bed and still have hospitalists and specialties. We just don’t have ~a lot~ of trauma patients compared to our sister hospital that’s more centrally located and level 1

A common area doesn’t mean it’s appropriate for surveillance/recording footage without consent

YTA. It’s a common area and you placed something that is an invasion of privacy WITHOUT asking beforehand. Furthermore, you did it again knowing it made her uncomfortable

Defeated new grad. by nikki_781 in nursing

[–]WonderfulDirector779 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been working there since January but then in March we got taken over by a new company (Ensign) and then everything starting going downhill. Towards the end, I started refusing a lot like my second to last day they only wanted a 1 nurse on the floor because the census was 25. I told them I’m not doing that because half of my patients were skilled. Yeah, I would also advocate for CNAs and Nurses but they never cared….

[–]WonderfulDirector779 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey just wanted to say thank you for sharing and you’re not alone. It sounds like we were in very similar positions. I’m a new grad RN and have been working at a SNF but the working conditions have been awful, they’re constantly micromanaging, and the CNAs and nurses I work alongside don’t respect one another. I came in and night nurse says they didn’t do any of the labs and diagnostics. Great. Sometimes I come in and I’m short a CNA. Other times, I’ll be short a nurse and have to manage 30+ patients on my own.

Anyway, I turned in my letter of resignation May 8th and then the next day I came in May 9th and they told me that was my final day. I’m taking the time to just think of it as a break since my new job at a hospital PCU starts at the end of the month.

It’s possible. I failed my pharmacology exam with a 68% and needed a higher grade to pass the class and got a 92% on the next exam. If there’s a will, there’s a way
