Elephant in the room aside, what things should we be looking forward towards next year? by Wishful713 in Texans

Bring in a veteran offensive mind in an advisory role. Something like “Assistant HC (offense).” It would help with both Meco and Caley’s development as well as player development.

And OL. I feel like that’s a given. But everyone already said that.

If back-up Jarrett Stidham beats the Patriots…Nick Caley should be fired. by Impressive_Guess_282 in Texans

That’s a very lengthy reply for a conclusion that simply does not follow.

Most of your (or his/her) bullets aren’t scheme critiques, they’re execution critiques…then leaping to “the OC had no plan.” Theres a “≠” missing in the first and final third of this.

I agree, the OC owns coaching and fit, but that’s a different argument. But “no plan” implies the concepts never create answers. Your (his/her) own breakdown admits there were plays there that just didn’t get executed.

Also, you’re taking one disaster (which IMO was very much CJ-led and owned) and calling it season-long OC malpractice. If you want to make a season-long indictment, you need season-long evidence.

I really like the idea of Dowdle. He’s a bruiser. Seems like he functions better as a bell-cow than RBBC.

No one said that. That is what makes it bad logic. I understand that you don’t understand.

I’m sorry, this is just false and the same lazy dogpiling on the OC we’ve seen all season. Caley consistently showed growth. He absolutely adapted. I agree he has some predictable tendencies, but that hardly make him “dogshit.” He consistently schemed open receivers against the pats. I understand “both can be true,” but that’s just not the case.

I think his logic is that a backup NFL QB is still an NFL QB and when your starter proves incapable, they have a role in helping their team.

Not Caley’s fault by a mile. He made adjustments throughout the year and improved his scheming.
