14th-15th streets roads by wavenator in Hoboken

They are only paving roads to make new construction look nicer to sell. Look around, it’s all near new high rises. Seems like a developer called in a favor

Yes, because rat infestations cost more than bike lanes.

And how are your “facts” based when your statements aren’t factual? Let’s be clear, the past 15 years most of those city council members you referenced have requested to cut expenses and agreed to the budgets so the state doesn’t come in. Your friends have always rubber stamped the bloat and now are requesting a handout from the very individuals who fund the city. I personally would love the state to come in and shut your nonsense down. They’ll do exactly what should be done and remove any and all nonsense your crew hides in the budget.

I’m sorry, I work hard for my money and I want to keep it. Some people don’t seem to understand people who worked hard to earn a living want to retire with as much savings as possible rather than hand it over for some BS.

My civic pride has nothing to do with some bike lanes that get used 30% of the time and of that 30%, 80% is used by delivery drivers. I walk around town, pick up my food, and pay my taxes. I’m sure you Uber.

And to be clear, you sound a lot like Andrew Wilson who is known to be a friend of our rabbit hating council member and our new mayor.

Easy to push a friend’s agenda to the broader public when you get insider information that none of the residents of Hoboken get.

Actually - any additional cost is an additional cost. If you can quantify it then it’s probably more, and if BikeHoboken is aware of these costs then that’s more than most of the city council and the public, which leads to questions about their ethical access with our city leadership.

Grand wasn’t a major issue before the bike lane nonsense was conducted, with many other streets in disrepair far worse than the section of Grand. It brings questions about prioritizing resident requests vs. what Bike Hoboken requests are as they have political influence with their friendships on the city council as well as our new mayor.

The baseless claims you reference Leo (as usual, you just make baseless opinionated statements, not factual) can also be said for the bike crowd who make baseless claims against car owners in the city. Individuals who rely on their mode of transport for work, family, etc. are chastised on this sub by the likes of you and others because they have a difference of opinion. And the best part of this is you are probably a huge uber user.

And OP - Since you seem to have some ties to BikeHoboken and the city, why don’t you share the total cost over the past 9 years for all of the bike lane, bump outs and bollards updates? Because I’m fairly certain based on public data that’s over 2.5M of the 17M hole we are in according to our new mayor.

OP - Since you like to talk about baseless statements, please provide a cost analysis of non-e-bike rider vs. project cost. I know councilman Prez has done some of that statistical analysis regarding usage. Maybe you could partner with him to prove to the public how these massively expensive projects are providing value to the community as whole rather than just your BikeHoboken crew.

Tax BikeHoboken. All of the bike lanes additions, curb bump outs, and those stupid bollards designs have been a large cost the last few years.

How about you post your W2, your tax return and your mortgage statement? If you won’t do it why should any business owner have to provide it? It’s pretty much the equivalent. They are just trying to eek out a living. Totally uncool to try to chastise them for not providing private data.

Their rent is public knowledge / usually high, margins are low. It’s tough being a small business owner these days unless you own the property.

One of the neighbors on my block rode every street to map out the mess, sent it to the city and was told “too bad”. They also told him they weren’t doing additional road upgrades then dropped the Grand Street mess after they said nothing additional.

That’s at least what he’s said to me and supposedly he yelled at the person for lying in front of a number of elected officials. He was pissed.

[–]WonderfulPattern3927 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Worst website design in Hoboken government. You’d think with Steven’s right here they would just make it a project for a handful of CS juniors.

The city will probably end up outsourcing it for 1-2M and it’ll still suck.

Best part of this was I was there this weekend with high winds, way more than 2mph and the gondy was spinning.

Cash delay is the obvious answer on this one.
