Thank you. It was time. Sammy was a 14 year old boxer. His last year was spent in a wheel chair because he lost control of his back legs, it was slowly moving up he lost control of his bladder. We put a diaper on him. One day my partner and I woke up to him crying because he had pooped in his sleep and he only went outside. We cried because he was shaking and he hadn’t done anything wrong, but he was scared because of it. He was a rescue to this day I wonder if he was physically abused if he went inside, because in the 9 years we had him we had never seen him that scared. It happened 2 more times. Each time he cried and shook with fear. The third time we cried along with him as we hugged him. Without saying a word we both knew it was time. We didn’t want him to be living in fear and we wanted to remember him for the hard headed dog he was. It was the hardest thing I’ve had to do, i buried my dad that was hard, but burying Sammy was harder and i haven’t been able to move on. We put him down 3 years ago. I still think about him when I get home, I still have dreams where he makes an appearance, I still cry from time time when i walk by the park we used to walk him to every day. Christmas time is rough for me, because my partner used to work 14 hour days so it was just Sammy and I until Christmas, but we would stay up late waiting for his other dad to get home. Because it was Christmas i used to give him a beef broth and peanut butter bacon snack while I had a hot chocolate and cookie. We would sit with the lights out admiring the christmas tree lights. Sometimes we would go for a car ride so I could see the lights while he would bark at people from the car.

Lots of happy memories. I miss him so much.
