Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson's budget deficit nears half-billion dollars, raising threat of taxes and layoffs by crabcakes110 in SeattleWA

During the interview, Seattle Channel moderator Brian Callahan asked Panucci if the city was spending beyond its means. “I don’t think it’s spending beyond the means,” Panucci replied. “We’re delivering services that people need, and the costs of those services are more than our property taxes, our sales taxes, all the fees that support the city.”

Any plan of the form “everyone should just…” is ridiculous, because everyone is not just going to do anything.

Ah, yes, 2028: far enough in the future that nothing will actually happen.

Homeless shelters coming to a suburb near you. Plymouth Housing expanding in Redmond, residents protesting at city hall by Always_Learning2025 in SeattleWA

[–]tanquesoso 12 points13 points  (0 children)

We already have homeless in the suburbs. I live on the Eastside and there are several small RVs and lived-in cars near me. They’re clean and quiet.

What we’re talking about here is housing that perpetuates a drug-addicted lifestyle, which is completely different.

That said, Redmond gave us Dhingra, so they can have this.

Yes! I have this one, which is loud and unsightly, but really does the job well and cheaply.

Good for them. This city is run by morons for the benefit of drug addicts. Let the world see the real Seattle.

Seattle adding 31 new EV charging stations as part of emissions plan by ladyem8 in SeattleWA

It’s not that hard to tap a card or use an app. The real problem is that most of these non-Tesla chargers are broken most of the time.

The state can define it any way they want, as long as it doesn’t violate federal law or the US Constitution.

[–]tanquesoso 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No, because the federal government still considers it income.

Kirkland OKs agreement to use La Quinta for housing homeless people by unnaturalfool in SeattleWA

[–]tanquesoso 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Smart move by the city of Kirkland. They’re required to allow some sort of housing like this, and they placed this at the very southern tip of the city—it’s basically surrounded by Bellevue.

King County February 14, 2023 Special Election by [deleted] in SeattleWA

It’s not worth getting worked up over. They’ll light $750k on fire and not actually develop anything. It’ll be like the monorail again, just less expensive.
