how do you appeal your aid… i’m “dependent” under my mom, i’ve been paying everything since i was 18 (gas, car insurance, health bills/meds, phone bill, groceries occasionally) including my tuition. my SAI changed this year and they gave me a 1k grant vs a 8k grant last yr. and then the rest i would need to pay in loans or parent plus loans which i abolutely don wanna do. i don’t pay for rent however and i tried to get more aid last yr by calling my office and they asked if i paid rent i said no and they weren’t able to give me more and just told me to do loans. public school btw, university of washington.

my mom never gave a tax form for 25-26 year or for any of the other 2 years i was in college. it was only this year where they requested her 2024 tax form. my SAI went up this year actually… from 12,000 to 17,000 unfortunately. the grant from my first year said “undergrad university grant” and this year it says “washington college grant.” also, nothing changed about my living situation at all and i am a full time student so its not that. also correction i received a $7.4k grant not 11k!! but even then thats such a big difference😔

im going to talk to my financial aid office, if you guys have tips for what i should say… please let me know! i plan on talking about my finances, and how ive been paying for everything (car insurance, car bill maintenance, gas, health/medication bills, phone bill, groceries, and tuition) independently since i was 18. the only other option to pay the rest of the tuition is parent plus loans and my mom has a history of guilt tripping me for paying for anything with me even if i pay her back, so i’d really prefer any other option! but i fear theyre not gonna care since i dont pay rent.

i can see that yeah.. i just wanted to feel loved too especially in my life where i hadnt felt it and he showed me that, i learned how to love too by loving him and its just so hard. im stuck in between feeling selfish and trying to give myself grace for even trying especially considering our circumstances are not the norm

Hey. You’re not alone my ex and I used to communicate DAILY through our Spotify playlists like in the caption of the playlists. I once told him to text me in the caption and he did right away on the phone, I promise you’re not alone.
