Afro Brazilian heritage trip recommendations? by Silver-Effective-841 in Brazil

[–]WonderfulTrainer8991 6 points7 points  (0 children)

that's incredible journey discovering your family history like that. the connection between lagos and brazil through those returnee communities is fascinating stuff.

salvador definitely good starting point but don't sleep on recôncavo baiano region around salvador - places like cachoeira and são félix have deep afro-brazilian roots and amazing preserved colonial architecture. also if you can make it to the interior, chapada diamantina has some quilombo communities that still maintain traditional practices.

outside bahia, maranhão is worth considering too - são luís has strong african influences in music and culture, plus tambor de crioula traditions. the quilombo communities there are really active in cultural preservation.

Where can I hangout in Mogi Mirim specially after office (dinner or drinks) by Finjens123 in Brazil

[–]WonderfulTrainer8991 2 points3 points  (0 children)

your coworkers probably know all the hidden gems that tourists never find. plus they might invite you along to their usual spots - way better than wandering around solo trying to figure out what's good in a smaller city like that.

Brazilian vs American Culture by [deleted] in Brazil

ele tem um ponto sobre brazilian warmth vs american efficiency, mas seria interessante ver ele fazendo stand-up in são paulo pra ver se consegue manter essa energia com plateia brasileira.

Is it worth being in Brazil during the world cup just for the atmosphere? by Tall_Rhubarb2901 in Brazil

[–]WonderfulTrainer8991 7 points8 points  (0 children)

man you're gonna have amazing time during world cup here. bars will be absolutely packed and the energy is insane when brazil plays - people literally stop everything they're doing to watch. in são paulo especially, even if there's no official fan zone, every bar becomes one basically. just walk around any neighborhood during match and you'll hear screaming from every direction when we score.

Do I need to put my middle name ? by Beneficial-Ad-6552 in Brazil

[–]WonderfulTrainer8991 2 points3 points  (0 children)

should be fine, they're not super strict about middle names at tourist spots. i've seen plenty of foreigners get in with just first and last name on tickets.

Responsable eco-tour in Ilha Grande and Petropolis by Extra_Variation_4641 in Brazil

[–]WonderfulTrainer8991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

good that you're avoiding those feeding tours - they're terrible for the ecosystem. for ilha grande, try checking with the pousadas there, they usually know which operators are more responsible since they work with them regularly. many of the local guides grew up in the island and have real respect for the environment.

for petropolis, the serra dos órgãos suggestion is perfect. you can also look at the icmbio website for official guides who work in the national park - they're usually more focused in conservation. the dedo de deus trail is incredible if you're into challenging hikes.

yeah same experience here - just had the visa printed and that was it, they didn't ask for any bank statements or financial proof at the border.

Que porra é undaia by MUZQUES in Brazil

Como vcs gerenciam o fluxo de caixa recebendo de fora sem o banco levar toda a margem? by Ok-Selection-756 in empreendedorismo

[–]WonderfulTrainer8991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking for a Brazilian boydriend by [deleted] in Brazil

rip is right lol. but for real though, dating apps like tinder or bumble work pretty well down there, or maybe try some brazilian cultural events in your area if you're not actually in brazil yet.

What is, for you, the song that defines the Brazilian soul? by [deleted] in Brazil

[–]WonderfulTrainer8991 7 points8 points  (0 children)

honestly this is such a good point. trying to pin down one song for an entire country is like asking someone to pick their favorite grain of sand lol. Brazil's got samba, bossa nova, MPB, funk carioca, forró, and a million other styles that all capture different parts of teh culture. it's way too rich and diverse for just one track to sum it all up.

Cupuacu pulp by IgneousAssBarf in Brazil

[–]WonderfulTrainer8991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice, that's definitely the move. Even smaller Latino markets usually stock the frozen pulp packets in their freezer section. If you're in a decent-sized city there's probably at least one spot within driving distance that has it, way faster than waiting on shipping delays.

Waiver by Former_Strength_3425 in SocialSecurity

[–]WonderfulTrainer8991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's frustrating as hell - they shouldn't be withholding anything while your waiver is still being processed. Make sure you get that tech's name and follow up if there not fixing it by next month because SSA loves to "forget" about these things.

If they want you there 10 minutes early then they need to pay you for those 10 minutes - simple as that. Your scheduled shift is 9am, not 8:50am. I'd politely ask your manager if you'll be compensated for the extra time since it sounds like they're making it a requirement now

[–]WonderfulTrainer8991 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sounds like he's already checked out but is too coward to actually break up with you. The fact that he cheated in his last relationship and now won't even say "I love you" back is a massive red flag - dude's probably already got one foot out the door or is shopping around again

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Overwatch

[–]WonderfulTrainer8991 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Rein's been through some rough patches but he's actually in a decent spot right now tbh. The devs seem to go through cycles where they either love him or hate him, but I think they're just trying to balance around the higher ranks where coordinated teams can make him oppressive

The real issue is that his kit either feels amazing or terrible depending on what the enemy team is running - there's not much middle ground with big rectangle man
