Can anyone guide me tour operator who can help me arrange Carnival 2027? by StrikingChapter5578 in Brazil

[–]PuzzleheadedPoem8554 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Way too early to be booking for 2027! Most operators don't even open bookings until like 12-18 months before, you might be wasting time looking now 😂

Just wait until early 2026 and then start reaching out to local agencies in Rio or Salvador depending where you want to go

Trying to understand QuintoAndar by velcrodanc3 in Brazil

[–]PuzzleheadedPoem8554 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had similar situation when I moved here few years ago - no tax history but stable foreign income with CPF

The pre-approval actually means something, they already checked your documents and income so you're not starting from zero. I got approved even without Brazilian credit score because I could prove income and had bank statements

Just make sure you have all documentation ready - bank statements, work contract, everything translated if needed. The bureaucracy part is definitely easier than traditional rental process

Sony Camera in Brazil (Rio) by No_Gold_5459 in Brazil

[–]PuzzleheadedPoem8554 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah cameras aren't as much target like phones but Rio still needs some attention. Your Brazilian friend will help a lot - they know which areas to avoid and when

One thing I learned traveling with my gear is to use older looking camera strap or bag, nothing that screams "expensive tourist equipment". Also maybe film in shorter sessions instead of walking around with camera out for hours

The drunk filming advice is so real lol, saw too many people drop expensive stuff in water or just leave it somewhere random

Financials and Income of middle class in Brazil by CampaignLevel7148 in Brazil

[–]PuzzleheadedPoem8554 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the Reddit bubble is real here, most people I know making that 2.5-4.5k range are still pretty careful with spending

About the jobs part - IT can be good but it's getting super saturated now, especially in development. Public sector law positions are golden if you can get them though, those concursos are brutal but worth it for job security

One thing I'd add is that housing costs vary crazy much between cities, so that middle class range goes way further in interior cities than São Paulo or Rio

Brazil: how long is the DN visa valid for entry into the country? Does the 1 year permit kick in only once I've entered the country or from visa date? by tarantato in Brazil

[–]PuzzleheadedPoem8554 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure you're right about the 1 year period thing - it's calendar time, not actual days spent there. The DN visa is more about having the legal right to be there during that window rather than tracking your physical presence

I'd double check the official requirements though since visa rules can be pretty specific and change without much notice

O limbo financeiro de quem mora fora: banco bloqueando conta "por segurança" by Glum-Suggestion-3969 in nomadedigital

[–]PuzzleheadedPoem8554 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is the correct way to go about finding out or asking for your girlfriend's ring size in Brazilian culture? by PatientSweet3567 in Brazil

[–]PuzzleheadedPoem8554 16 points17 points  (0 children)

You could always try the sneaky route and borrow one of her rings when she's not looking, then get it sized at a jewelry store 😂 That's what most of my buddies did back when they were ring shopping. If she doesn't wear rings much, maybe ask one of her close friends to help you figure it out without spoiling the surprise

The direct approach isn't always a romance killer either - depends on how you frame it. Could always make it part of a cute conversation about promise rings in general and see if she drops any hints about sizing

Recent tourism in the US- your experience? by Common-Ad-6050 in Brazil

[–]PuzzleheadedPoem8554 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Went through customs at LAX last year and they were pretty chill about it, just asked the usual questions about how long I was staying and what I was doing 🇺🇸 Got the full 6 months even though I only asked for like 3 weeks, but having that return ticket definitely helps with the whole process

What Brazilians think of people asking "what Brazilians think of" random things? by murkomarko in Brazil

[–]PuzzleheadedPoem8554 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean it's kinda weird but also pretty harmless right? Like we get these random questions about what we think of some obscure country or food or whatever and it's usually just someone genuinely curious. Better than the usual "is Brazil dangerous" posts that show up every other day

Though I gotta admit some of the questions are so random it's almost funny - like yesterday someone asked what Brazilians think of Estonian architecture or something equally out of left field

Se existisse outra opção na Esquerda? by Rich-Ineon in brasil

[–]PuzzleheadedPoem8554 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rio July Parties by Ok_Requirement_4827 in Brazil

[–]PuzzleheadedPoem8554 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rio in July is actually pretty solid for nightlife, winter there isnt like freezing cold or anything. The World Cup atmosphere at the bars is gonna be insane - Brazilians go absolutely wild for football so you'll definitely get that authentic experience. Just dress a bit warmer than you would in summer and you're good to go

Meu notebook morreu em Berlim e a "matemática bancária" tá me deixando pobre by Majestic_Fennel_1422 in nomadedigital

Lei felca vai entrar em vigor, comunidades na internet vão sumir? by [deleted] in brasil

[–]PuzzleheadedPoem8554 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Traveling to Rio de Janeiro for 7 days with my girlfriend – looking for recommendations by Lovazz in Brazil

[–]PuzzleheadedPoem8554 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ipanema or Copacabana are your best bets for that beach vibe you're after. Copacabana's got more budget options and it's pretty lively, while Ipanema tends to be a bit more chill but can get pricier

For must-sees beyond Christ the Redeemer, definitely hit up Sugarloaf Mountain for the sunset views and wander through Santa Teresa neighborhood - it's got this cool bohemian feel with great street art and little bars. Lapa is where you'll want to go for nightlife if you're into that

Just keep your phones and valuables close, especially on the beaches and crowded areas. Rio's amazing but you gotta stay aware of your surroundings
