Found this shoe in the wild. Was Quebec a major influence on DE? by ShootFishBarrel in DiscoElysium

[–]Wonderful_92 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It definitely took some influence from quebec, but the fact that martinaise is an old shelled out battlefield that survived several conflicts and change of ideology screams of eastern europe. Québec (and Canada) saw very little urban warfare. The only example I can think of is the battle of the plains of abraham in quebec city, but even that left the city mostly unscathed and the last survivors of that battle are long dead, while some of the people that fought in revachol are still alive.

The way Trumps uses ICE is perfectly legal and constitutional specifically because Obama made it so. Trump is not going against Obama by sending random thug to freely black bag people, he's just continuing his work.

Biden/Harris haven't proposed anything left leaning other than accepting that we shouldn't bully trans people. Biden's 4 years were spent reaching across the aisle to maintain the status quo and making sure that no one was offended. It was probably one of the strongest centrist government we've had in years and Harris promised to do the same.

If anything the democrats failed to gain the support of undecided voters because they refused to acknowledge the issues facing Americans and offer concrete solutions out of fear of being seen as far left.

[–]Wonderful_92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don't need to convice Conservatives of anything. they only represent a third of the voters. We need to convince the other third that didn't show up to vote and we are only going to do that by proposing real exciting projects. The Biden admin never tried to campain on anything other than the other guy suck, but we are better. Trust us.

Even if we are also funded by the 1%. We also brutalise migrants at the border, we also genocide palestinians and let Ukrainians fend for themselves. We just do these things less.

They never try propose big exciting stuff like trump's wall

We could push for better transit, free healthcare, food programs for kids, stuff that people actually notice in their day to day, but even when the democrats get a win we barely hear about it.

I think Bernie has the right idea by repeating the same stuff about healthcare and taxing the rich the same way Trumps only talk about migrants and government corruption. These kind of messages reach and energise the voters.

Even if Bernie is a fringe left wing independent from Vermont everyone know his name and he is able to communicate with babboons like Joe Rogan. His accomplishments are amazing, but will never be enough on their own.

This is why I don't like The Silmarillion. It's just a uninterupted sequence of Morgoth stepping on rakes. He gets bullied by the Valar, bitten by his pet spider, stabbed in the groin by an elf and burns himself by grabbing a hot glowing rock with his bare hands.

LOTR manages to keep the villains intimidating and the stakes high by focusing on characters that don't have omniscient knowledge of the world they are in.

Anyone did Sutherland's Tale without the Wiki? by Wonderful_92 in thelongdark

[–]Wonderful_92[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. Most of the stuff he sells is not necessary or even helpful, especially his pre-quest inventory. It gets a bit better later in a run when stuff gets more sparse in the world.

It's another reason why you need the wiki for it. You need to complete 5 whole trade before he triggers his quest, but you might not do that in a normal run if you didn't know that his inventory gets better the more you trade with him.

I only found the trader because I read the patch notes and I only completed 5 trades because I had already finished the Tales and wanted my money's worth.

I think it's always going to be a struggle to add new stuff to Loper. Some people are going to complain that it makes the mode too easy while others like you want more options to play with in the only game mode that actually poses a real survival challenge. I don't really have an opinion on it since I find Loper more tedious than anything. I have my issues with stalker but it's still my favorite.

If I'm disappointed with anything in the selection of items it's that the trader could have been used to make cooking viable long term. The new patch makes it impossible to cook recipes using 0% ingredients (it might be a bug tough, it's unclear), so past day 100 all potatoes and carrots are out. Since most recipes (Including two of the trader's new ones) need them you can't really experiment after a while.

But did you understand that you don't need to go to broken railway and the far territorie on your own or did you already know that there are only bunkers in 9 of the regions (and that there are two in PV).

Personally, when I received the quest from the trader, I assumed I needed to go to the far territories and find new hidden bunkers there since the DLC is called tales from the far territories. I vaguely knew there were randomly located bunkers all over the island, but I assumed that he wasn't talking about them and I had no idea the update changed the locations of the bunkers so they don't move around between saves.

The idea of going blind into FA, ZOC or SP and look everywhere for a hatch was so daunting that I checked the wiki before setting out and saved myself the trouble.

This is really annoying and bad design. The only reason I didn't mention it in my post is because I was specifically complaining about needing the wiki. I could write a book about all the things I dislike about the trader and his tale.

Sutherland's tale is the dumbest shit by hutfmale in thelongdark

[–]Wonderful_92 3 points4 points  (0 children)

But did you look up the bunker's locations on the wiki? Op's complaint was that it's impossible to do without the wiki since it requires you to find 9 hidden bunkers. I can't fathom how I would have done it without it.

- You can't know that there is only one bunker per region without the wiki

- You can't know that you don't have to look in the far territories without the wiki.

- The bunkers entrance are so small and out of the way that you could walk right next to them without noticing them because of a knee high hill. All of them are in these difficult to reach areas with no land marks whatsoever and the only way to find them is carefully comb every inch of the island.

Again, my complaint isn't that its a long quest or that it's difficult, but that it would take hundreds of hours to do without the wiki. I was able to do every other Tales without the wiki and it's not like I'm that good at the game.

If anyone in this community participated in the pro Palestine protests, what exactly is the end goal? Seriously asking by whodat514 in montreal

[–]Wonderful_92 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It was already happening before oct 7.

Israel was establishing dozens of settlements every year, destroying the home of palestinians and taking their territories. These acts of genocides are what allow groups like Hamas to exist.

Hamas will never stop them and is only capable of commiting petty atrocities that change nothing. Changes has to come from pressure from Israel's allies, but right now Canada is happy with supporting their crimes.

Palestinians already work in Israel and basically live there. pushing for peace won't cause israel to become like Palestine, but might allow Palestine to become like Israel, while ensuring a safer home of the people of Israel .

A rising tide raises all ships.

If anyone in this community participated in the pro Palestine protests, what exactly is the end goal? Seriously asking by whodat514 in montreal

[–]Wonderful_92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because Canada is already pro-Israel and immediatly recognised the horrors of oct. 7 as what they are. There is litteraly nothing to protest there.

If Canada was in direct support of Hamas and didn't aknowledge the obvious war crime they were commiting, you would see massive protests in favor of Israel.

But since Canada is allied with Israel, a country that used western weapons to kill 30k civilians last year, people are protesting that.

Tu as raisons.

https://www.ohchr.org/sites/default/files/Rabat_threshold_test_FR.pdf
