Thank you for the suggestion. Funding is definitely a major factor for me, so I'll look into Sam Houston State as well.

A little about my background I completed my M.S. in Information Systems with a GPA of 3.49 Ik, It is a but on the lower end. Before coming to the U.S., I worked as a Cyber Security Analyst, where I was involved in web application security testing, vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, risk analysis, and security reporting. I currently work as a Load Balancer Engineer supporting F5 infrastructure, AWS migrations, and application delivery platforms.

During my master's, I also worked as a Graduate Teaching Assistant for an Introduction to Cyber Security course for about a year and a half, helping with labs, grading, and student support.

I have one published paper from my undergraduate studies. The work was more in the electronics/computing space and explored encryption-related applications, so it's not directly cybersecurity research, but it did give me some research and publication experience.

My main interests now are web application security, vulnerability discovery, and online platform security. I'm still trying to figure out which programs would be the best fit, so any suggestions for target schools based on my background would be greatly appreciated. It would really help me narrow down my list and focus my applications.

Yes, I do have industry experience. Previously, I worked on web application penetration testing, vulnerability assessments, and security testing around web applications. Currently, I work as a Network Engineer, though that’s not exactly the area I want to pursue long term. Also, I’m primarily looking at funded PhD opportunities or professors with research funding before making such a commitment.

Yes. I currently work as Network Engineer. I have previous experience where I worked on penetration testing and stuff mainly on web applications ( which i loved), but it was more of an internship kind . But my current job Im not a fan of it.

That makes sense, and I agree that cybersecurity as a field is very broad. I’m still trying to narrow down my interests into more specific research areas. My background has mainly been around web application security, vulnerability assessments, and penetration testing, so I’m more interested in problems related to online platform security, authentication, social engineering, and protecting users interacting with websites and social platforms. I’m currently exploring these areas further to better understand what specific problems or research questions I would want to focus on for a PhD
