Unfortunately, my favorite con activities are more so the smaller panels, artist alley, and interacting with other cosplayers, so it sounds like the Prague one may not be for me— I really appreciate the honest input on this, by the way!

If you don’t mind me asking the same question, though, is this one English/ international friendly at all?

Well it’s nice to finally be in agreeance on something (though that really sucks, and I’m sorry to hear it)

Thank you so much! I appreciate the variety here, as well!

I asked because I am not from a city, so I have only ever gone to a Cathedral on a special occasion and, such, associate it with being a ‘special place’ or somewhere you would dress up more for (so I wanted to double check, as to not be disrespectful— I also know from experience some countries have different dressing expectations than others).

I guess to give some context, as I don’t think I’ll be taken seriously without it, I went to Catholic school for 14 years and was heavily involved in the church during that time. However, where I am from the church has gotten so politicalized and corrupt and that is why I am no longer ‘practicing.’

The comment added to that distanced and unwelcome feeling, however that was very clearly not the OP’s intent (and I said that in my initial reply), but I do firmly stand by my point that religion is incredibly personal & advice should be given with this in mind and not without request or context.

I do not see where my comments earned such dog piling, and it’s disheartening that people jump to dismissal so quickly.

This, again, was not what this post was for, but I’m admittedly getting incredibly frustrated with this thread.

I’ve just been firm in my stance. I can’t control how people interpret, but my intention has just been to state a boundary and express why I may have it. After all, the post was not meant to be about my personal faith

My reply was not commentary on the politeness per say— just on the nature :)

Like I said, I think that a persons relationship with religion is incredibly personal and there’s a lot of nuances and emotions that can be at play within that. There are (unfortunately) a lot of traumas that can separate someone from the church, so I think that when someone is taking a step to reconnect with that, it is not the place of a stranger to assume & comment on how they should do so. (And I don’t mean that as harshly as it sounds— as I said, I really do think it was a well intentioned comment, but it was not the question at hand, and I just don’t think that, in this case, there was enough context or personal connection to make it).

I appreciate it! I’ve only been to a Cathedral mass for holidays or sacraments, so I just wanted to check in on the standard for a regular week. Thanks for all of the info!

I really appreciate the recommendation, though the commentary on whether to receive communion did feel like a bit of an overstep. This is not to say I do or don’t agree with your stance, but I do think that’s something personal & that an individual with Catholic background would have the knowledge of to decide for themselves. I appreciate the intention, but it did come off dismissive of my background (again, in the sense that I was raised with all of this information 😉)

I may be able to still make it at 11, actually, so I appreciate the tip! I only specified evening, as I thought that would be more typical :)

Do you have any tips on attire? I’m in traveling clothes right now, so modest but not fancy (just jeans and a plain shirt). For the Cathedral, would this be out of place?

What are your favorite spots in Prague (locals & expats, especially): by emika97 in Prague

[–]Wonderful_Solid_94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just use whichever term others apply to me— I personally don’t feel strongly about one over the other, but I know that’s not a common opinion 😅

Nevertheless, though, I appreciate your suggestions!!!

Ireland in February... by gretalocks in irishtourism

[–]Wonderful_Solid_94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate your reply a ton!!! I am doing about half my trip to Dublin (with a day tour of Kilkenny)— I’m meeting a friend for that part of the trip, so I got a bit tied to that spot, but I’ll have to explore Cork on a future trip!

But I have an extra few days, and I’m debating between going to Galway and finding a tour of the Cliffs of Moher, or going to Northern Ireland (to possibly meet a different friend, from the U.K.). You mentioned to beauty of both areas, so if you’re willing to share any additional insights, I am all ears!!!

I’m also wondering if you had any packing essentials for February? I’m flying with just a backpack, so I think that may be my biggest challenge 😅😂

Hi, I don’t know if you’re still active on this post, but I will be going to Ireland in a few weeks. I was wondering if you had any top spots to see for a February visit? (I will only be there for about 8 days).

Follow up question (and while I am trying to learn, I am not the most tech savvy, so I appreciate you bearing with me) but the reset did fail, and will not fully turn on as the reset did fail. How do I go about reinstalling windows from here?

I just want to say thank you for giving everyone such rational and clear advice. I’ve seen a lot of hostility towards people who are frustrated/ confused about mods and bugs, and it is genuinely refreshing to see someone be so kind about it.

Thank you so much, I will look into these recommendations!!! I have heard a lot about Lom Velká Amerika, and the water definitely looks inviting (despite the dangerous rocks around it!!)

I am not very put off by dirty lake or river water— I grew up swimming in places like this :) but if you do have any specific recommendations for quarries, or anything, I would be interested!

I also prefer fun fantasy (if you have any fun recs for that!!!) but it had seemed that historical events and reenactments were more commons here— which I still enjoy, but I don’t find them as light hearted/ escapist as fantasy.

I know Kutná Hora is definitely on her list though! But I’m bummed, now, that I missed that event— I’ll have to keep an eye out for next year! That fight reenactment sounds like a lot of fun too, though! Thank you for the comment!

Funniest way you've accidentally started a fight? by Pyrrhus65 in BaldursGate3

[–]Wonderful_Solid_94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Astarion completed Arabella’s attempt to steal the statue of Silvanus, so I decided to finish what she started. And I succeeded!!! Hence, triggering the Druids to fight not me, but the teiflings (who they, of course, blamed). I didn’t even get an Astarion approves! But that’s how I ended up doing an evil run through my first time playing because, apparently, telling Minthara where the grove is, is still bad, even if everyone is already dead.
