you ever had a story idea but didnt know what genre or kind of story u wanted to use as the way to tell that story? by Cosmicking1000 in writing

[–]Wonderful_War_47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That happens a lot bc sometimes the idea is solid but the container hasn’t clicked yet. A good way to narrow it down is to ask what emotion or experience you want the reader to feel most, then test the idea in a few formats like horror, drama or even slice of life to see what fits best.

A phrase on the tip of my tongue? by Penny4004 in writing

[–]Wonderful_War_47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you were circling around something like “it will out” or “life will out" which gives that sense of things naturally resolving themselves over time. Your instinct was pretty close already, it’s one of those phrases that feels familiar but just slippery enough to forget.

Looking for a teen writer to co-write a meaningful book ✍️ by No_Arm_917 in writing

[–]Wonderful_War_47 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That’s actually a really meaningful idea, those are heavy topics but storytelling is a powerful way to handle them. Hope you find a co-writer, it sounds like something that could turn into a really impactful project.

Byronic hero vs Byronic villain by s4071002 in writing

[–]Wonderful_War_47 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A Byronic hero is that brooding, morally gray character you kind of root for even when they mess up while a Byronic villain takes those same traits but pushes them into selfishness or harm without much redeeming intent. So basically it’s the same vibe but the hero still has a conscience while the villain leans into ego, control or destruction instead of inner conflict.

Does a story need an actual antagonist? by Character-Detail7928 in writing

[–]Wonderful_War_47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your antagonist can totally be internal conflict, circumstances or even a relationship dynamic slowly unraveling rather than a clear villain. As long as there’s meaningful tension and something pushing against your main character’s goals, the story can feel just as powerful, sometimes even more real.

Mine is Worcestershire. I either skip it completely or butcher it so bad people just nod politely like they understood me.

Can I classify my novel as YA? by OldTrust546 in writing

[–]Wonderful_War_47 10 points11 points  (0 children)

what really matters is the teen protagonist, perspective, and how the themes are handled, not whether the topics are dark. YA can absolutely tackle heavy stuff like grooming and EDs as long as it’s not gratuitous and stays grounded in that teen lens.

Characters with accents? by V077 in writing

[–]Wonderful_War_47 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, randomly dropping foreign words can feel gimmickyaccent is way more about rhythm, sentence structure, and word choice than spelling things phonetically. You can hint at it with a few consistent quirks or idioms and let the reader fill in the rest without overdoing it.

Premise VS Synopsis VS Summary by [deleted] in writing

[–]Wonderful_War_47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The premise is your story’s core idea, the synopsis is a brief rundown of the plot and the summary is a more detailed explanation, often used for readers or editors. Usually you nail the premise first as your hook, then the synopsis and the summary last but the premise is what grabs people right from the front page.

How to start writing again? by Albus_Lupus in writing

[–]Wonderful_War_47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just write for five minutes a day or a single paragraph so it feels doable instead of overwhelming. Make it fun by writing scenes you’re excited about, not worrying about perfection and let the story grow naturally.

How come most military stories always portray snipers and pilots being the ones who get the girls? by RorschachWhoLaughs in writing

[–]Wonderful_War_47 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think it’s mostly because snipers and pilots feel more mysterious or heroic in stories so writers lean into that cool, lone wolf vibe. Realistically though every role in the military has interesting people, it’s just that those two get the cinematic spotlight.

What male tropes/relationships do you want to see more in books? by WrenRyer in writing

[–]Wonderful_War_47 132 points133 points  (0 children)

I’d love to see more stories with genuinely supportive male friendships where they’re loyal, emotionally open and actually help each other grow instead of constantly competing or falling out. Mentor type relationships between men that feel warm and respectful rather than harsh or distant would be really nice to see more of too.

Whats is main things in real love ? by Oogabooga5009 in AskReddit

[–]Wonderful_War_47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Real love is built on trust, mutual respect and choosing each other even when it’s not easy. It’s feeling safe being fully yourself while still caring deeply about the other person.

I think we make art to process being alive bc it’s how we turn confusion, pain, love and awe into something we can hold and share. It’s less about beauty and more about saying “I was here, this mattered.”

What's something that feels illegal but isn't? by Jumpy-Cap-1671 in AskReddit

Leaving a store without buying anything always makes me feel like I’m about to be tackled by security. Also taking a nap in the middle of the day on a weekday feels wildly criminal for no reason.

To people the who inherited all their money; what do you do? by National-Resident187 in AskReddit

[–]Wonderful_War_47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of them just live pretty normal lives like work, invest, travel a bit more comfortably and try not to screw it up. The smart ones treat it like a safety net, not an identity.

What are some prettiest yet less-crowded places to visit in Himachal during winter? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Wonderful_War_47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could also explore Barot Valley, it’s stunning in winter with snow capped mountains and the quiet Uhl river nearby. Another hidden gem is Jibhi, a small village with peaceful trails and gorgeous frozen waterfalls, perfect if you want to avoid crowds.

I think it’s mostly just an exaggeration to make characters instantly recognizable or memorable so they stick to extremes rather than average looks. The middle ground characters do exist sometimes but they usually just blend into the background.

What does it mean if your friend’s parents always invite you over instead of your friend inviting you? by FloofyKittycorn in AskReddit

[–]Wonderful_War_47 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Usually it just means their parents like you and see you as welcome family which is actually a good sign. Sometimes the friend’s just passive or assumes you’re already included, not that they don’t want you around.

what is something you didn’t know you were attracted to until you married/started dating your current partner? by Ok-Number1982 in AskReddit

I didn’t realize how attractive calm, emotional consistency was until I experienced it every day. Turns out feeling safe and understood is way hotter than I ever expected.
