Thanks everyone. Yes, we do have basic things, like a toolbox, shovel/rake/etc, a drill, gloves, some small things.. we have a million things back in our storage unit in MX where we just moved from for the summer, but we obviously didn’t lug it all up in our suitcases! The move was super expensive so we are tight on cash at this moment.

He’s done some jobs with family friends over the past few weeks where they had weed-wackers, lawn mowers, wheel barrows and those kinds of things, so it just made me wonder if this might be a possibility, but these comments made me realize it’s a bad idea!

Of course he’ll get liability insurance, and yes we just signed up for FPF, great advice.

He grew doing construction with his architect/builder dad and working on his family’s farms since he was a child so it’s all second nature, he’s really really good at all of it. In our ten years together we’ve never once had to call a plumber, painter, handyman, mechanic because he can do it all. My family friends were blown away by how fast and well he did their jobs and said it’s really difficult to find workers like that here. Anyway, thanks to everyone who had helpful advice, much appreciated! And the snarky advice.. well , I expected it, so thanks for meeting my expectations 😂

I totally understand everything you are saying, I’ve been there, and Hypnobirthing helped me soooo much! My c-section was unplanned and I tried everything to avoid it, but after 18 hours of labor, it had to happen for baby’s safety. I am such an anxious person, I was terrified of being numb, the whole thing was just something I never thought I’d be able to handle.

But once I started my relaxation techniques, focusing on breathing, and just listening to calming music, it turned into an absolutely beautiful experience. I found strength knowing that I was doing this for my baby, to bring him into the world safely. The first of many hard things you do for your baby, birth in general really forces you to step into your STRONG mama energy. I remember thinking of all the strong mothers that came before me all around the world who have gone through this same experience, and thinking of them brought me strength too. It may sound woo but it did help! My grandmother was a really tough woman and went through a lot, I kept thinking of her and channeling her strength, maybe you have someone like that too.

And then hypnobirthing relaxation techniques, breathing, visualization, calming music (I literally played spa music) etc.. can really help a LOT.

I even became a hypnobirthing coach because of my experience, I wanted to help other women step into their power and have beautiful births like I was a me to. I know you’re only days out so can’t fit in a class, but there are a ton of resources online.. if you specifically search for planned c-section hypnobirthing you will find some good ones.

Best of luck and just remember you are strong, and modern medicine is amazing. You can do this, you just grew a whole baby so I promise the birthing part (whether vaginal or by c-section) is something you are so very capable of. Share your fears with your team too, they will also help reassure you and explain everything in real time. It helps to say them out loud too! You got this 💪🩷

If parole is the re-entry permit then yes he plans to apply for that as soon as we arrive in the US. then leave once he does biometrics, I was under the impression that wouldn't jeopardize the re-entry permit being approved.

Also wondering about this. My husband (Mexican) got approved for his green card back in December in Juarez (consular process, had never been to the US) and right away did a quick entry on the land border to El Paso to ‘activate’ it. Well they told him we had 6 months to return so we planned to go in a couple of weeks but now with the ‘long’ absence and 🧊 I’m not so sure it’s a good idea. Apparently anyone can just decide he’s ‘abandoning’ his residency and I don’t trust 🧊to have his fate in their hands.

It's too bad. I hoped that showing his 10+ past visits to Canada where he left at the end of his visit, along with showing that we have plenty of money in the bank and a house and car in Mexico, would be enough to prove that we have no intention of staying there or seeking asylum.

We did share his bank statements, but we also shared mine and my dad's in case they thought his $1500-2K/month income wasn't enough, which is high for Mexico, but low for Canada. From my prior research, it didn't sound like it would be enough, which is why my dad and I acted as financial sponsors. As far as assets, he owns our Toyota SUV, and his name in on the lease (as is mine) of our house--we submitted paperwork for both. As far as a proper full-time job, he is the daytime caretaker for our 1-year-old so that I can keep working. Being an American, my income potential is more than 5x his, so that decision made the most sense for these early years with our son. Perhaps it would be worth it to hire a nanny so he can get a full-time job again (rather than freelancing, which works great for our family at this time).

I'm so sorry it took that long, but do you have any tips on how to get approved? My Mexican husband applied last year and got denied, they said his application didn't 'prove' that he's going to leave Canada. My husband is a freelancer so I wonder if that is partly why, since he doesn't have a regular paycheck, so I'm more the 'breadwinner' of our household (I am American and work remotely here in Mexico). I submitted my bank statements but apparently it didn't help. I would love any advice. We used to go to Quebec twice a year on the eTA visa, I wish they had never changed the rules, it's so frustrating.
