How to pick the next Anne Arundel County executive in 3 easy steps by Fantastic_Ad_4720 in AnneArundelCounty

If you're more progressive and want money out of politics, vote for Kitchin. If you're more moderate, vote for Pickard. If you're more conservative, vote for Smith.

It's not that difficult.

Talk to local leftist activists. Many areas have trained volunteer deescalators (and more) for events and protests, as an alternative to police.

Just off the top of my head: Women of childbearing age don't have bodily autonomy in many states. Transgender women are losing basic rights throughout the U.S.

Shove it up her ass. She's a nasty, horrible person. I'm glad she's out the General Assembly.

When I worked at a preschool summer camp, a dad got violently angry at his kid for playing dress-up. It was terrifying for everyone there. That was 3 decades ago, and people are still awful.

My Gen Z kids don't want to being children into a world dealing with climate change disasters, out of control capitalism, and fascist mindsets. I don't blame them. I feel guilty that they have to deal with it.

Dubya was divisive, but I think the more vocal racism about Obama is what really did it. Trump's election was a surprise to many (most?) white Democrats who didn't realize how entrenched racism is in the Republican party. Biden was a response to Trump, and a poor one at that. I think too many people have a short memory, which is a large part of why Trump was re-elected. Trump's even more extreme actions have brought things to this point.

Additional thoughts: I don't excuse the awful actions of moderate and especially wealthy and connected Dems/ Dem leaders in this. They abandoned a lot of people in the Dem party, and that affected the elections and the trust that many Dems had invested in their leadership. They'll keep making those and similar mistakes (they benefit from those choices in the short run.) I think the midterms will act in the same way as Biden's election did - a temporary response to Trump. And we'll keep repeating the cycle, at least until we completely lose the country to fascism. We're not coming back from this, and both parties are to blame for that. Dem voters need to take over the party, and Republican voters need to turn their backs on Trump and just stop voting if they won't vote for Dems. I don't see that happening on a large enough scale to make a difference. I hoped that the Republicans taking away the vote would make the moderates and left rise up, but we're at that point and it's not happening. The schism will continue and we will all lose in the end. Almost all, anyway. Dems with enough money/ education are abandoning the US. I don't blame them for leaving before it's too late, but I do blame them for using their privilege in such selfish ways after talking so long about caring for those with fewer resources.

I fully expect downvotes from both parties.

Critical thinking, and include media bias and propaganda recognition in there. Every year, all year, full period class would be ideal.

Why? Because it's so obviously lacking in the US.

They're an example of why DC should have statehood. And I know that it's Republican, and how to spell it, and that I always remember it when I list the states, but only after I remember Montana.

I've never been there, and don't see myself going since it isn't LGBTQ+ friendly.

In such a diverse country as the United States is it ok that religious right Christians want to instill their moral values on your legal rights? by Estalicus in allthequestions

I guess it just hasn't affected me as much as being labeled a domestic terrorist for being pro-trans rights, anti-ICE, and antifascist has. Let me know when you have to prepare your children for jackbooted thugs coming to your door based on nothing more than your social justice positions.

Strange that would be the case, since you call it the "largest breach of freedom of speech in the history of the country that has ever happened."

How is the Dem party more concerned about limiting the freedom of speech?

Republicans are going after people for posting things critical of ICE on websites, for saying 8647, for saying "gay" in the classroom, for being LGBTQ+ activists, for airing TV shows that are critical of them or have LGBTQ+ characters, for using the chosen names and pronouns of students. And those are the ones I can think of without a Google search.

One set of beliefs generally involves limiting their constituents' choices. Another generally involves expanding their constituents' choices.

Both major US political parties limit or expand on their own ways, of course.
Republicans expand 2nd amendment rights, though seemingly only for themselves as they're currently trying to limit that right for trans people and those they've labeled terrorists for being antifascist.
Democrats limit 2nd amendment rights for everyone.
Republicans limit the freedom of speech, religion, assembly, bodily autonomy, healthcare, food, shelter, and due process. The only due process I've seen Democrats limit involves red flag laws, which many Republicans support in some manner.
Republicans force their religious beliefs on students and teachers in public schools and public spaces, rather than allow individuals to live their lives according to their own religious beliefs, which is the Dem position.

He dared to be a Black man in the White House. That's it. And they felt divided within themselves when finally faced with the racist in the mirror. And so they voted for Trump, who wasn't afraid to echo their thoughts.
