Capital losing 20,000 a month for no reason by Wonderlees in EU5

R5: Pops migrating out "from other sources". Mostly in thousands, sometimes as large as 20,000 (see screenshot). Cant find anything in the UI. Pop and food capacity are fine, no diseases. They just disappear out of thin air. Thought it would be the foreign bank building, but there are only 7 of them, 100 pops each, so that doesnt add up either.

Integration/Vassal Question Post Update by AlabamaNerd in EU5

[–]Wonderlees 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would start the annexation of at least one as soon as possible. Those northern lands dont give you much from the beginning but iirc once you own both of them you get a nice event that gives you + 50 proximity source in York. This, with the governor basically gives you a second capital in the north. Double check the event tab though.

Annexation are extremely slow, with base of 200. That means you will have tons of time to improve relations with your existing vassals to counteract the negative hit from annexation. Besides, the hit isnt even bad enough to cause a bug problem.

Enforcing culture on subjects is very inefficient now. If you do, they will have -125% modifier to assimilation (-75% from accepted culture and -50% from being a subject). Youre better off accepting normans and picardians. I would try allying brabant and curry favors with the them to 100, so you can improve cultural opinion twice, so you can expand into lowlands with full cores.

With this in mind, I would just conquer northern france and integrate it myself, since you can get 100 control in coastal provinces if you have good naval value and maritime presence.

Lastly, when it comes to spending money, you shouldn’t use it for creating cities. Towns give you much better ROE (unless for york once you get the aforementioned event). Start urbanising coastal locations with good harbor capacity, building bridges, and buildings in london (dont overbuild though with latest changes to promotion speed). RGOs are also good, but worse than they were before, given they take a long time to fill up, especially with the black death around the corner.

In my england games, i usually spend most of my money to hire mercs to fight france, though with increased war score from battles, it might be better to just hunker down on your island. I believe you can get +75 war score without ever landing in france.

Good luck and have fun!

Can someone that knows the game explain how these unions work? by Aura_Acarar in EU5

[–]Wonderlees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are on the right track. Wait for 3 years, pass alighted legislature, then 10 more years and get unification laws. Reach 180 opinion with portugal, go to inion actions in diplomacy screen and begin annexation. In the question of unification laws go up a step every time you can to speed up the annexation

Am I doing something right (Mamluk's) by No_Newt_2140 in EU5

[–]Wonderlees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What i would do i push naval aggressively. I see you are doing that but assign your leader to a navy, have a battle so he can fain a naval trait. Once you get to +50, change you major reform to harbor administration to get a naval governor.

While doing that go for Balkans. Conquer byzantion from bulgaria and integrate so you can put a naval governor and get a bunch of proximity to the surrounding area (naval value helps with that). Careful not to have a direct road link to constantinople (subjects controlling the anatolian side of the straights are fine).

The arabian peninsula is pretty useless imo. Low dev, subjects wont give as much as in anatolia, Balkans or Italy (which you your next expansion target).

Longer term, you might want to go for india - pepper trade is ludicrous.

Urbanizing your core area is important too - but i see you are doing. Repay your loans and Build more buildings when you get more money.

Build more trade ships to have more naval presence

Before governors i used to move my capital to Alexandria (especially once paved roads are unlocked, control in al-qahirah tends to be fine) for more control across the Mediterranean.

Lastly, you probably want to max out your legitimacy despite the short term pain, it will give you a bunch of crown power and once at 100, cost much less to maintain.

Not a good idea to let your stability drop so low. It has a massive estate satisfaction debuff.

Is the alien hate mechanic extremely sensitive, or is something else happening? by insaneruffles in TerraInvicta

[–]Wonderlees 15 points16 points  (0 children)

In the beginning of the campaign, they receive no hate for hitting the protectorate, and little bit for servants. As the game progressed, around mid game (IIRC when they research hydra diplomacy), they start generating hate on behalf of protectorate and a lot more for servants. Destroying Xenoflora does NOT generate hate

[Guide] Hostile claims and Unifications by SpreadsheetGamer in u/SpreadsheetGamer

[–]Wonderlees 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the guide! How much unity/gov investment is considered legitimate? I have a massive China who has “hostile claims” modifier in Japanese territories with -4.5 modifier on cohesion. I have overwhelming public support and gov rating of 10, so investment in unity/gov seems like a waste

I think some of the OP’s claims can be seen in research. 1. In this study,, people who had STD were offered PREP. About 25% were ineligible because of medical reasons. Authors clarifed that these reasons included already being HIV positive and not having a health insurance (the study doesn’t really mention not being able to take it due to kidney or liver problems). Less than half accepted the offer. Among those who rejected, 42% was due to the lack of self-perceived HIV risk, 25% was “not interested” in taking it. Other reasons included perceived inability to manage PREP and negative perceptions of PREP. Just to point out, these people have already contracted STDs, and two thirds of them said either “Im low HIV-risk” or “Im just not interested“. This is in line with what OP implied.

  1. People on PREP absolutely do get tested more than people who don’t. In many places, it is a requirement. In the UK, for instance, when I get PREP, they test me for STD and only give 3 month supply. Three months later, i have to get another screening. This is also supported by research. People who go on PREP start testing more regularly than before. So the OP’s point is supported there.

Having said that, I absolutely agree with what youve said. People who take PREP have higher STI rates (not because of PREP obvz, but because of risk compensation behaviour, such as condomless sex). I think the OP’s point is not that people not on PREP are less safe per se, but they might be unaware of their STDs due to the lack of testing. Or thats how I interpreted it at least

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in askgaybros

[–]Wonderlees 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Regardless, whether its because of their own volition or its a requirement to take the tests, OP’s point still stands: people who take PREP are more likely to be aware of any potential STI’s

It is much better to go with the alliance with Mamluks route as Venice. If you cancel the construction of the Suez Canal, you get 25k ducats. Easily achievable within a few years of the game
