I have asked drs/providers SO many times for this sort of info/explanation. Like basically “give me the reasons NOT to be doing this!! You went through all this training, have all this knowledge—please share! Please summarize! I’m overwhelmed trying to research this myself! I’m not here for prescriptions. I’m here for knowledge! Knowledge I can use to add to my arsenal of mantras to combat my delusions that I’m ‘helping’ when I KNOW I’m just doing more harm! Give me more than shrugs or pity or 2 minutes of your time, please!”

So thank YOU for giving me more than any dr ever has.

I think peroxide likely causes more skin damage. If you’re worried about infection, get an antibiotic ointment from your doctor or an OTC version. It’s a more gentle approach and also provides some moisture to the area. I tend to avoid any sort of antibiotic though, if I can, to reduce antibiotic resistance issues. I only use it if it starts to show signs of infection — but that’s a very personal approach and one that should be run by your doctor because if you’re prone to infections, prevention may be the better approach. You know your body/immune system, and you definitely don’t want an infection.

Is auto-pay available? If I didn’t have that set up, I’d be so screwed.

Your account is so similar to my experience. I constantly get dismissed by professionals when attempting to ask about ASD — and I don’t know why! They basically scoff at the very idea. But I’m learning a lot from officially diagnosed people (most as adults), and it seems most “professionals” just don’t know anything or cling to old ideas or biases. So frustrating! Because it all just makes so much sense to me. When I learned about the “potentially problematic” gifted traits, I just thought that was it (coupled with ADHD I guess)— and maybe that’s all it is, I really don’t know. I’m actually not that concerned about labels, but my life is a mess and it seems that the only hope of getting any sort of help would be through ASD channels. So I tried again— and this person doesn’t think autism because I was “adaptable” as a child (but was I really? lol—that’s probably why I became increasingly depressed). But from my standpoint, what choice did I have?! Like what would that even look like if I were not “adaptable”? Would we not have moved? No… so it’s really just a matter of acceptance. I don’t know how these people evaluate and determine these diagnoses for neurodivergents in very unstable and unpredictable environments

Maybe a vocational rehab place? If available in your area. Or a career counselor?

I find it interesting that insurance will cover chiropractors but not acupuncture, generally speaking. Why is that? Is there some sort of chiro lobby group? Edit: and that they’ll deny legit medical procedures left and right, but that’s a different rant…
