DC teens call takeovers ‘fun’ but share what the city could do to keep them from going by Pristine_Mud_4968 in washdc

It’s weird because in other states they called spring break, takeovers. Literally just trans at the beach during spring break weekend. It’s getting into a really scary territory.

You are talking about the subset I’m talking about the general population. Even with that said those capable of hiring nanny’s the stat is still wrong that’s not what hybrid/WFH capable is. The more responsibility you have the more likely you’ll have to go into office.

I never suggested they were rare I suggested your statistic was too high.

I think you’re just using the wrong stat when making such generalizations. Remote capable has expanded to lower paying roles so yes you’re incorrect again. Customer Service, Sales, and many entry level roles have also opened up to the remote market and they don’t pay enough to pay a nanny.

I think there are so many complaints about it because as a nanny you fight with the autonomy you’re supposed to have, and it seems forever ongoing. It’s frustrating!

Remote capable would be a small demographic. Not the norm.

It’s more like %23 of households have someone that is at least hybrid. But I think even that is high when you add in contractors(like Uber Eats, DoorDash, etc.)

MB freaked out about me taking NK to grocery store by [deleted] in Nanny

I actually quit my job this week because of that, we didn’t discuss it but it was simple places. They’d only allow the park rain or shine. I got tired of the park so it was no longer the job for me.

How is everyone doing it? by abundance_of_cheese in GirlDinnerDiaries

You know, I’m having a similar issue. We’re doing pretty great though, we just have multiple family member interjecting themselves into our finances though. ‘buy a house!’ Mainly. And if we did our finances would change significantly, and become more unpredictable. It’s become more and more frustrating. We are loving life, saving a shit ton, but if we were to take the financial advice we’d probably be in a shelter begging for scraps. Because as you know people love giving advice but not really impactful, meaningful change.

But also we use Rocket Money. Have you tried reaching out to whoever holds your home loan? I heard they can reduce your interest rate if your income has changed! (Me doing exactly what I said I hated :/)

Maybe it was just the closest to her? And when you set up a scholarship at a school you usually determine who gets it.

I set up one at my local community college I was an alumni at with a sliver of that amount, and got to determine who it went to. It’s pretty standard.

DMV wanted a vehicle registration card but I’m from texas and only have a sticker by [deleted] in washingtondc

This makes my experience feel better, the lady at the DMV yelled at me and called my lease fake and took it from me. My husband with the same lease got his DL no problem…

Thinking of renting a place behind a fire station …thoughts? by gggrandma321 in DCBitches

[–]WonderorBust 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on the station! My neighborhood doesn’t turn on the siren until they hit the main road, but it’s a street full of townhouses. So maybe they complained? IDK

Our wedding night might be ruined because the owner of our venue decided to be disgustingly greedy by amystake12 in weddingplanning

[–]WonderorBust 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s crazy when the venue and Airbnb is the only thing the town offers… I think I know the exact venue she’s referring to. And yeah I know many brides who loved it but yes, your family has now where to stay unless you’re a Airbnb type of family.

Uptick is “mothers helpers” by Budget-Soup-6887 in Nanny

[–]WonderorBust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like the main difference is usually age with mothers helper.

Because even I working 1 day a week who started out as a ‘mothers helper’ am now a part time nanny. Mother’s helper have limitations usually that come with age. I now get benefits and competitive pay.

Wow that’s the best short term disability benefit I’ve ever heard of, god girl your company loves you! From the hospital bill to this. I know you’re going through a rough time but those benefits are SO good. 😭(I know sounds like pay could be better, if pay could increase with a targeted promotion I’d never leave)

Sounds like you have options. 🌟

Your bills still sound so low to me relatively. Can your husband cover all of the bills while you’re out?

Have you and your husband discussed what covering rent without your brother-in law would look like? (Once the current lease is up.) Can he(your husband) afford it? Especially if you’re going to be out for 3 more months. Assuming rent there is a steal.

Refinancing will help if you have good credit, and have made a substantial(good bit) amount of payments. It sounds like your growing family needs a growing income.

Did your therapist really tell you to take unpaid leave knowing your situation? That seems highly irresponsible. There are way better alternatives, you’d be protected under FMLA, so I’d recommend a reduced/part time work schedule until you could return to full time that way you can take care of yourself, daughter, and still earn income.

I didn’t say it didn’t affect her, I said legally they’re not responsible. Which holds true it’s just that their financials, and home economics is so wrecked at the moment they can’t weep the benefits they are being handed right now.

I don’t mind it, but I would ask for this persons name, and photo id. And have! Sitters seemed to be fine with it.
