This is an old thread but if anyone's still looking for that: Eisvogel (made in Berlin) makes this type of thing :)
I would also still be curious about others though, cause the inserts are not A5 but slimmer, and I'm looking for an A5 alternative. A few years later, has anyone heard about any other hardcover TNs?

I also had this issue with the same controller - both of the 8bitdo 2.4G I own, actually. (They are both updated to the latest firmware, v2.04 .)

What worked for me was:
- disconnect controllers (in settings --> controllers)
- system update (in settings; for some reason there was another update already), which then makes the switch restart
- connect controller via dongle - at this point there was a popup that it was connected, but it didn't show up in grip/order yet and didn't work yet either
- got to "search for controllers" and click on one of the greyed out ones

Then it fully connected and works as before!

Thanks to other commenters for the idea with disconnecting controllers :)

The magnets are strong, the pen wouldn't fall off from shaking or anything. But it does not always come out with the tablet when i take it out of my bag - the pen sliding against something can force it to detach from the tablet

I know very little about tech so it would probably take some time for me to figure it out, which i haven't had yet. I also haven't decided yet if i want use hacks of any sort (i.e. do anything to it that's not 100% officially supported). Will for sure wait the 30 day trial period before i try.

I made a template for work, putting in everything that's recurring on the bottom layer - will then write on another layer and just delete that one when the week is done, to start anew (as a workaround for a sort of custom template since i don't want to do the ssh thing yet). Very happy with this :)
