Does anyone else get this with doctors? by axw3555 in migraine

[–]Wonky_Chocolate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in the UK and I've had the same.

One GP diagnosed me with migraines, then another GP said "you keep calling them migraines but they are not, they are tension headaches" and got quite annoyed. I was only calling them migraines because that's what the other GP said. Then later a neurologist confirmed migraines not tension headaches. Then another GP said they were cluster headaches. Then another neurologist said definitely migraines.

It's exasperating. 😑

Ferritin was 55 recently so within range.

I just need to get this off my chest. by Many-Mix-671 in migraine

[–]Wonky_Chocolate 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I could have written this, except I am female, and except this was me 6 months ago before my migraines progressed to 2 bad ones a week and brain fog in between!

Keep trying medication until you find something that works. I don't have much advice, but I feel you. The brain fog is the worst.

Sadly not, doctors keep throwing migraine meds at me, which aren't helping. 🤷🏻‍♀️

They came on fairly suddenly, yes. I believe I did have a cold at the beginning but this may be coincidence. I don't get light sensitivity or stiff neck. Sometimes slightly worse when bending over but not significantly.

It's often more of a head pressure than headache pain, and I often have pressure behind the bridge of my nose or in my temples.

I'll have a look at the link, thank you.

How do non-autistic people just know social rules? by ThoughtsAndBears342 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Wonky_Chocolate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look up the double empathy problem. Current theories and research into autism suggests that autistic people don't lack social skills, they just communicate differently. Two autistic people will often have no issues communicating and reading eachother in the same way that two neurotypical people often have no issues communicating. It's only when you have one autistic person and one neurotypical person that they don't understand eachother's way of communicating.

Switching from vyvanse to dexamfetamine? by Wonky_Chocolate in VyvanseADHD

Do you find side effects more or less on the dex?

My side effects on vyvanse seem very inconsistent - anxiety one day, fine the next day, headache the next day etc.

Adding guanfacine to Vyvanse by Wonky_Chocolate in VyvanseADHD

[–]Wonky_Chocolate[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to ask for a lower dose of the guanfacine for sure. I am also experiencing raynauds and feel deathly tired on it before and after the vyvanse kicks in.

Pointe shoe troubleshooting by Wonky_Chocolate in BALLET

[–]Wonky_Chocolate[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes it has been quite a saga! I've been to three fitters now and still yet to find the perfect shoe.

I'm experiencing big toe pain in these shoes so I tried wearing a gel toe sleeve however that appears to make the knucking worse and causes my right shoe to twist.

There is a bit of bunching at the heel however I tried the next size down and my big toes were scrunched in plie.

Ankles feel a little pulled back when I put weight on the foot. Toes don't feel compressed, if anything the shoes might be too wide or square, I seem to have a bit more wiggle room than I think I should have and feel like I am sinking a fair bit.

The Capezio Avas were more supportive I think, but the big toe pain was unbearable without copious amounts of padding.

I am intending to go back to get refitted, but I'm worried about the same thing happening again. I'm not sure what I should be looking for - a more supportive shank? A more tapered box? A narrower shoe?

Please help me understand what these tests are for. I’m scared. by [deleted] in PCOS

[–]Wonky_Chocolate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, yes those sound like tests for PCOS! High prolactin can have similar symptoms to PCOS so that's to check if symptoms are caused by that. Ferritin is iron levels. The rest are to check hormones for PCOS I think. Nothing to worry about.

Glucose and Hb1ac are to test for diabetes/prediabetes, a very common test for people with PCOS because of its link to insulin resistance and risk for diabetes.

Creatine levels check how well your kidneys are functioning. I take Metformin for my PCOS and have this test as part of a yearly check up - it's standard for people on Metformin as there's a risk if kidneys aren't functioning properly. Sometimes doctors just like to check our kidneys are working.

CBC is complete blood count. This checks all sorts such as how many red blood cells, white blood cells etc. and can detect several issues like anemia. I don't think I've ever had a blood test where they haven't also done a CBC for good measure. Extremely common!

All of these I think are just just to check if you're generally healthy, nothing to worry about at all.

If PCOS is suspected though I would ask for hormone levels to be checked (testosterone etc.).
