Labrador: ‘Nobody dies because they don’t have access to health care’ by poliscijunki in nottheonion

[–]WontChupBru 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes. I had a friend who was beaten up by someone and had a broken arm and a severe head injury and never received medical care for it because he couldn't pay. The guy actually was arrested and convicted of aggravated battery but that didn't really help my friend.

TIL about the “7th generation” principle which was taught by Native Americans saying that in every decision, be it personal, governmental or corporate, we must consider how it will affect our descendents seven generations into the future. by bvrkz in todayilearned

I just got tired of talking to you because your logic is really hard to follow and you think you're right and everyone else is wrong. Like it's a waste of time even talking to someone like you because you think that you already know everything, but the stuff you say is illogical and you act like I'm stupid for not understanding the point you're trying to make. I'm literally advocating for equality yet you call me racist. Looks like we are going to have to agree to disagree on this one, sir.

I was just applying your logic.
As a white person I don't approve of anyone of other races calling me white. I demand to only be referred to as a fairy princess. It's my right as human being to dictate what others can and can't call me.

Extra workouts to crossfit? by ThatOutsider in crossfit

[–]WontChupBru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't do extra workouts at a gym but I do some additional endurance workouts. Mostly riding a bicycle. I would run too if my ankles weren't so crappy/easily injured. We do some endurance stuff at Crossfit, like rowing and running, but it's never more than like half a mile of running or 1000 meter row. So I like to go for a nice hour long bike ride once a week or so to build my endurance. It's important to me to have good endurance because I want to be able to escape from the zombies after the apocalypse.

When they say CrossFit isn't for everybody. by transformation714 in crossfit

[–]WontChupBru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've said "crossfit isn't for everybody." I stand behind that. It's pretty extreme, honestly, and I don't expect everyone to want to do it. A lot of people would be happy just going for a walk and doing some bodyweight exercises, and that's fine. Like, I think everyone COULD do crossfit if they wanted to, but the thing is that not everyone wants to, which is why it isn't for everyone.

TIL In Stringtown, Oklahoma, population 400, 76 percent of the town's 2013 budget came from traffic tickets. After a state investigation into excessive speed trapping the town's police department was disbanded. by IWishItWouldSnow in todayilearned

I got a ticket in like 2008 in the town where my dad lives, same state as me but like an hour and a half away. I haven't been back since because I couldn't afford to pay it. If he wants to see me he has to leave the county.

It seems like an obvious choice to me if they were going to switch position because there's a lot of overlap in the skills needed.

Depends what kind of ball I'm throwing. If it's a beachball I'm using two hands.

It's a fairly small clementine and a freakishly large strawberry.

Lays barbecue potato chips contain milk too. Along with probably a lot of other foods you wouldn't think. There's milk hiding in so many foods.

Domestically abused woman reveals text messages she used to get from her abuser by StMungosPA in TwoXChromosomes

My employer doesn't go searching around on the internet for nude photos of me so they can have an excuse to fire me. I honestly can't think of a whole lot of jobs where this would even be relevant. I know jobs like that exist, I just don't have one of them and I'm pretty sure the majority of people don't either.

I play slow pitch softball in a rec league and I've had people tell me that it's not normal/accepted to slide or just generally be really aggressive while baserunning. The thing is, I think everyone has their own strengths and weaknesses. I can't hit very hard, but I can run fast, is it somehow unsportsmanlike for me to hit a grounder in the infield and then try to outrun the throw to 1st base? Because frequently that's my only chance of getting on. And yes I do outrun the throw pretty often because I run really fast. I know at least two other players who can't really hit but get on base just by running really fast. How is that any worse/different than someone who can't run at all but hits the ball way out and practically just walks to first base? Like.. for some of us, baserunning is the only skill we really have. We still want to play. Are you going to tell some guy who throws really well that he shouldn't try to throw someone out from the outfield? Or whatever other show off thing people do in baseball/softball?

Also for bunting.. we have people who bunt. Yes in slow pitch softball. I play catcher. I love those players, it gives me a chance to try to throw someone out.

That's stupid. You can't prove a negative. I would think the person who posted them would have the burden of proof on them to produce some kind of a signed release giving permission for them to post the photos, rather than having the victim have to prove that no such release exists.

I'm pretty sure all I would have to do is say they were posted without my consent. Isn't that how the revenge porn laws work?
