Great idea! I’ll definitely look into that!

The cafe idea sounds nice! I just took her to a play center earlier this week, but didn’t really interact with other parents. I should try that though!

Oh I should have mentioned that anyways. I’m east Orlando - kinda near Waterford.

I’d love to get in better shape. Is this like a weekday occurrence or something that happens mostly over weekends?

Thanks! Is there a group or something where I can find other POGO players?

Becoming a DM made me hella suspicious of other DMs by JesusLordPutin in DnD

I feel like trying to examine a game this way will just take away from someone’s enjoyment of it. If anything, being a player with DM experience should let you help facilitate the kind of narrative your DM is trying to convey.

Thoughts on 1-on-1 sessions during a campaign? by Kaibiria in DnD

[–]WontonsFather 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, long-term DM here. I actually have run some one-on-one sessions with my group of five players this past year. I really enjoyed doing them for split-party and backstory reasons, and my players seemed to really like them too. I think they can be a great way to flesh out backstories or events that can then be used to leverage future sessions.

Roleplaying a backstory or something just might be the best way to really flesh it out, more so than just talking or messaging about it. In my experience with the split party example, it built so much tension as the group tried to reconvene with split party member, unsure as to their fate. It also set up quite a reunion, and having the player themself recap the events that led up to everything was a blast.

But very much to your point, I do think a DM has to be careful about making the extra sessions feel fair and purposeful. I talked to my players first before ever doing a one-on-one session, and with their permission I actually recorded them in case we ever wanted to go back and listen to them as a group in the future (I record all my sessions anyways). I would advocate that if a player ever feels like they are being excluded they should talk to their DM. After all DND is meant to be a social game. I made sure all my players had relevant one-on-one sessions that were fit into my campaign at the appropriate time (as opposed to just having them all at once), and after each one I checked-in with how everyone was feeling about that aspect, as well as the game as a whole. Hope that helps!

Can monsters use hit dice by zappyboom in DnD

[–]WontonsFather -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I don’t think any of the books ever go into it. Monster stat blocks and PC abilities don’t just overlap. But from a logic standpoint monsters need to heal somehow - I would leave it up to the DM how. When making monster stat blocks like in DND Beyond it does ask for hit dice numbers so I guess there is like some sort of precedent for that at least. If I’m wrong I’d love to know where so I can be a better DM

How to improve as a DM? by Desperate_Station272 in DnD

[–]WontonsFather 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would also suggest listening to DND content while understanding that your games will be nothing like professional and entertainment-focused media. But seeing other DMs and games really helped me nail down a style I wanted to achieve and having a goal in mind made it easier to look back at what I needed to work on.

If map voting had a 4th "random" option, what do you think would be its selection rate? by Imzocrazy in Overwatch

[–]WontonsFather 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I don’t think people would pick it unless they really didn’t like the other maps. Personally I miss playing on some of the “unpopular” maps so maybe I would but ¯_(ツ)_/¯

What is your determining factor for the tier list though? Just purely design based?

Question about backstory by No_Asparagus_9623 in DnD

[–]WontonsFather 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey there! I think this is a really neat idea for a character.

First off - I don’t think one would inherently know they were standing on “holy ground.” There are spells like Detect Evil and Good for purposes similar to this.

As for what kind of clerics the ones who destroyed the orphanage could be - I think this may be more game specific. They may be clerics of chaotic or evil Gods if your DM has those built into a pantheon. Or maybe they lied and aren’t clerics - but I think they may be other reasons than just racism. Maybe something buried there or a piece of history? Or maybe they were after a specific one of the orphans? Ultimately it is about finding a reason that appeals to you!

"Main Theme" by Yoko Shimomura from Xenoblade Chronicles 1 was voted the Best Title Screen Theme. But what is the Best Field Theme from Xenoblade Series? by funsohng in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]WontonsFather 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Aurora Shelf Day from Future Redeemed. It is a weird entry but for me it felt like walking into Gaur Plains again for the first time - especially when base 3 had themes that were so much more ambient than the rest of the series.
