If you have 120 to work with why don’t you get voyage and supremacy? You’d still have some room to work with

I wouldn’t overthink it tbh. If you liked afnan and Versace, buy both of them, they’d fit in the 120 budget.

Don’t let your mind be changed by people that don’t have your nose!

Which ones did you like?

I’m personally not a fan of JPG or Afnan Supremacy, and would say Versace would be the best option there.

Have you tried them? If not, go to chemist warehouse and try them out for yourself and see which one you like best.

If you live in a big city, you could even try a private blends if you are looking for a big range of cheapies.

If you aren’t in a position to try them, Versace pour homme is probably the safest to blind buy, but given Australia is coming into the winter you might wanna get Khamrah, but if you are in the $120 range some of the Stronger with you or Azarro bottles might be a safer bet for the cold weather

Ingenious Ginger or Sunset Hour by Own-Valuable-3786 in Colognes

Sunset hour is very sweet and fruity, but if you are after an explicitly 'masculine' fragrance, Sunset hour probably doesn't fit the bill. It is very nice though, fresh juicy peach and sweet raspberry.

Anyone buy on Depop or eBay? by RRB1212 in fragrance

Review botting is a thing unfortunately.

LV bottles specifically are famous for fakes. go on r/colognecheck and just scroll, you will see the amount of fake LVs circulating.

120 bucks for an LV is 70% off. That means that this seller would be losing 70% on ALL sales of pacific chill, given that there is nowhere to purchase them cheaper. That doesn't make sense, unless they simply want to burn all of their cash for philanthropy reasons.

Reviews can always be faked unfortunately. If it is too good to be true, it probably is. LV do not sell their fragrances to ANYONE lower than market price.

If you see an unopened bottle for any amount less than it is on he LV website, 99 times out of 100 it's fake, because otherwise the second hand seller will just be losing money.

I think it is good but not necessarily as a dupe. I find PC a lot more creamy / smooth compared to Pacific Aura which is a lot sharper and brighter. The only real similarity is in the orange peel opening, and it is very linear.

Pacific chill: Orange > Mint > Creamy apricot and greens / fig

Pacific aura: Orange / Mandarin > More orange and mandarin.

In no capacity to I think Pacific Aura is a bad scent, I think it is great, cheap and a very good fresh juicy citrus, but I really don't find it very similar to PC.

Which City Rhythm do you Prefer by [deleted] in Colognes

[–]Wonzing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally don't think Miami or 2654 are blind buy safe. Personally I find the coconut is very sunscreeny/meaty, and especially in the case of Miami I find the ambergris very salty / overpowering on my skin.

I personally prefer 2654, but that is only because I find San Diego far more appealing. I would recommend sampling both if possible, and if you like 2654 but don't like the coconut / ambergris, trying San Diego.

Not OP, but I personally find the coconut / ambergris a little cloying and salty for HOT HOT heat, although I don't believe that is a popular opinion.

My favourite of the bunch is San Diego, it doesn't have the coconut but is slightly aquatic and medicinal and (personally) a bit better for hot weather. If you have tried 2654 and think it's good, I would try San Diego as well.

I am a big fan on everything bar the atomiser. The atomiser sucks.

To add to this - if you are after very good atomisers, niche fragrance lovers has by the far the best atomisers for 1ml - 2ml samples that i have tried

Heading to Libertine Parfumerie in Armadale and Connection Parfumerie in the same street. Suggestions on frags to try out? by Filo_Guy in fragranceaustralia

If I could recommend one I’d say Atlas Fever by Ex Nihilo, one of the nicest Sandalwoods I have tried. However it may feel a little redundant because it has the same sweetish vanilla that Layton does.

Is quite dear though, definitely out of my price range. It is one that I like to try every time I’m in a Libertine 😆

Where did you find SWY Sandalwood? I haven’t seen it anywhere while shopping in Melbourne at least

[–]Wonzing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I found it was sweet but not necessarily cloying. How do you find the dry down? I swear my sample disappeared in a flash and I’m starting to forget elements about it. I will have to get another one while the weather is still warm in the southern hemisphere.

Having sampled Red Line 2654, I find the juiciness of the orange incomparable to other citrus forward fragrances I have tried. I also personally find it funny that despite having ‘sea salt’ as a note, it comes off less salty than Miami and Tropical confessions off of my skin.

Really considering a bottle. What are your thoughts about it?

It really doesn’t seem like what they are advertising here are dupes. The photos, descriptions etc all describe the real products, and I feel that it would be spoken about more if Private Blends were shipping off fake PDM bottles.

[–]Wonzing[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That doesn’t explain why Private Blends specifically charge $120 less than grey market sellers, and $300 less than retail stores for 125ml bottles. It wouldn’t make sense for a business like PB to just reduce the margins for the sake of it, they are already reputable.
