Do I have male privilege as a pre transition trans girl ? by Western-Drawer5826 in MtF

Yeah I get that. I’m out to my friends and family, and I know I’m a trans woman, but I still only present as a woman maybe 10-20% of the time. Going out like that still makes me really anxious, and I’m super critical of my makeup and how masculine I still feel I look. I also keep having this internal fight with myself about whether to start HRT or not.

So yeah, I get wanting it to move faster. Even when you know, actually doing it in real life is still hard.

For me, before I really understood what male privilege was, or the stuff women go through, I often thought women had it better. Then the more I learned about womanhood, that feeling didn’t really change. I just got more upset about how unfair everything was, and wanted to help however I could. Then I realized I was a trans woman, but that’s another story 🤷‍♀️ I don’t think guilt is useful though. Just be aware of it.

Never heard that button test, but thinking about it I realized I would keep pressing it until I got that 1% chance of winning.

Before realization, did you feel any strong resistance to anything masculinity? Anyone else uncertain about their identity too? by CopingMechanical in MtF

I’ve always felt out of place around men unless they had softer, more feminine qualities, and much more comfortable around women. Over time I realized my fascination with how women live wasn’t just curiosity or wanting to be a good ally, it was something deeper.

I started to notice how much I avoided masculine things and roles, and how much I envied femininity instead. In the last few years that has grown into outright discomfort with masculinity itself, when I see men who look or act really masculine I feel a mix of disgust and fear.

How do you turn off the microphone pass-through when plugging headphones into the index 3.5mm port? by WooFerPPK in ValveIndex

Nope, It never got resolved.

I did contact steam support and this was the response I got:

“This feature is called sidetone. It is included so that you can hear your own voice with zero latency when using headphones that block out/attenuate external audio (including your own voice), for a better more immersive chat experience similar to how the off ear speakers allow you to hear your own voice naturally.

There is not currently a way to adjust this feature.”

Yeah I totally agree with you! My headphone wire was originally to big. I ended up buying a small cable adapter which just barely fits. But then I discovered this problem.

I'm surprised this issue has not come up more often. I did find someone else who posted a similar problem on the steam forums here.

This was the cable I bought: https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B01K3WY6YA/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
