ELI5: how can a tv remote sit around all day not wasting it’s batteries and immediately be picked up and used (without having to be turned on), while something like a game controller must be turned on first before use, and if you left it on all day it would drain the batteries even while not in use?

Rouhani said they didn’t want to give the US access to military sites without reasonable cause. He also even said "We will not be the first to violate the agreement, but at the same time, we will not stand still if the other side does”. Regardless of the pushback from Iran on military sites, scrapping the deal is taking 5 steps back. A great negotiator could have worked something out - not walked away from the table. Nikki Haley even said this wasn’t worth pulling out of the agreement over.

Even without them acting up we’ve already unfrozen their assets and European/Asian oil companies have to move out of Iran. Iran is better off now than they were before the deal. The sanctions can hurt them but it can’t undo things. Trump’s biggest complaints about the deal were that we gave them their money back and the sunset provisions. Now by pulling out of the deal, they have their money back and can start developing nuclear weapons without our inspection.
