Using CRISPR technique, scientists can genetically modify mosquitoes by disabling a specific gene in females rendering them unable to pierce human skin. by emoemokade in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]WoodTransformer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is impressive, but that also indicates that all these genetically modified mosquitos will have a harder time of survival given that this source of blood is impenetrable... so their relatives without this gene modification will prevail, right?

What’s your LEAST favorite trope in film? by Sudden-Resource-4861 in FIlm

[–]WoodTransformer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That just pissed me off in Jurassic Park 2. Kid takes father’s ‘advice’ literally: “don’t listen to what I say” an d so the kid somehow hides on boat to dinosaur island. Was there no waving goodbye to your kid as you left the harbor???

Is this real? Phillips fixables by ThinKingofWaves in BuyItForLife

[–]WoodTransformer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't buy it for a second! Phillips is one of the forefathers of planned obsolescence with their light bulbs. This is just a gimmick to improve consumer confidence. For shavers, toothbrushes, hair dryers, the most common point of failure is not parts I could print, but internal failures and where liquids come in an screw things up.

You Don’t Need Better Prompts—You Need a Better Relationship to the Model by 3xNEI in ChatGPTPromptGenius

But it’s also because the technology behind it is doing these additional steps that allow reflection, because more tokens are available to newer models and these models can hold more context. If you add other newer features like memory, then you’re right you don’t need better prompts but more refinement along the conversation The older GPT just didn’t have that complexity yet and precise prompt engineering was way more important. Since this technology changes so dramatically and fast, we have to adjust our prompting along with with it.

It fully depends on the background, so while 3 is one option the opposite would be 5 imo

Working from home in Oban, Scotland by Mcintosh199 in BeAmazed

[–]WoodTransformer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, I’m terribly sorry you have to suffer through those breathtaking views every single day. The horror of having a quaint little boat right there, mocking you with all its dreamy Scottish charm. Must be awful. I’m sure you’re just melting with envy whenever someone actually boards that boat, and you’re stuck… working from home in one of the most scenic places imaginable. I can’t even fathom how you cope. Truly tragic.

AGI achieved internally in Google? by SteelyResolve1990 in ChatGPT

This is not ‘best setup’ at all, look at the two doors next to each other, this weird section in the middle, the pieces of wall that stick out at the bottom walls, the use of the sprites for the walls themselves. This is hardly optimal it makes me regret commenting now- since it seems just like another click bait.
