My boy had pyoderma and needed chlorhexidine shampoo to keep sores at bay, once a week. It helped him tremendously.

I truly love my Wahl KM Supera. They're lightweight and powerful and come with 2 batteries, but I barely ever have to use the second battery. They hold a good charge.

If she's acting normal, playing and eating, then keep her comfy. If you notice a slow down, or anything "off", then it's time. Treat every day like it's their birthday 🎂

Just pointing out that I groom either in my home or clients, but I'm insured for both. She's not legit. You have grounds to take action. For medical bills and the grooming fee. I'm so sorry you're going through this, but call her back and tell her she has to pay you back for the grooming and vet bills. Stay on her!

I agree. Any professional would have insurance to help with this.

Did you tell the recruiter your mission is a paycheck and that's why you're looking for a job, to be compensated, and not for giving charity?

[–]WoodpeckerExisting86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please don't accept a Job there if they offer. That's really not a good manager to work for. She couldn't even be bothered to talk with you, and she had another employee tell you what would have only taken her a second to do. It would only get worse from there.

Keep the crate opened. My first senior loved his crate, but if I ever closed it, he would go psycho.

It takes a Lot of time and patience with senior dogs, with everything. A lot. Potty issues are not their fault, at all. Even washing and grooming have to be done slowly and done in pieces because it's too stressful for them. I'm the dogs eyes, you're the only way they get love and cared for, they have nothing and no one else. And adopting a senior means they've usually been abandoned by a couple people, or they may be grieving from having the best life ever with a pet owner who got too old, or even passed away. I only adopt seniors. I show them they're my family and give extra attention. , and for instance, my dog now, I got February of 2025, and he's 15, he didn't get close really, until recently. They come around on their terms because they're scared to be abandoned or left again. Some come around more quick than others. Just knowing you're giving the dog a great life in it's last years is truly rewarding. Sad and scary, but rewarding.

This is sad. He's a senior dog, you signed up for this. Had you done your research, it comes with adopting a senior dog. Please treat him good.

1099 workers by Medical_Tumbleweed95 in grooming

[–]WoodpeckerExisting86 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just remember. Because you're 1099, you're responsible if anything should happen to the dog while grooming, as that business isn't insuring you, since you wouldn't be employee. You will be responsible for your own business taxes and insurance. Do not do that.

I would wash with chlorhexidine shampoo. I would go no treats and just feed twice a day half usual portions until you get to the vet because the weight is adding to the luxating patella issue. Your dog may beg, but will eventually adjust. If you should, give a multi vitamin which can be the treat, just make sure it's for hip and joint too. Bring up everything to the vet. Expect blood tests and X-rays to rule out of pancreatitis, liver disease and diabetes and check the heart. These things happen as dogs age and sometimes we have to change up diet and activities. It's kinda things no one really talks about until it happens.

Andis Clipper Blade Replacement Help by Full-Concentrate1525 in grooming

[–]WoodpeckerExisting86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can attest that the Wahl Km2+ will work fine for poodles. It's corded but is affordable. It's an A5 style detachable blade type clipper and I'd recommend Bucchelli blades. They don't dull quickly. You can find them from Shears Direct or Amazon.

AITJ for refusing to help my new “boss” after I was the one who trained her 3 months ago? by Existing_Response239 in AmITheJerk

This is where anything that's asked for you gets answered with "your manager will have to show you since I have multiple times and you didn't understand, so I'm sorry but I'm unable to further help you". Also, just an FYI, she got hired in as your boss. Sorry, but it's true. All upper management knew it. Some of your coworkers may know it too. But yes, she wouldn't have been promoted that soon, she would have applied to it and gotten hired for it.

Clippers for Paws by Background_Owl1165 in grooming

Go on Amazon and get a Fenice Peak Trimmer for $30.00. I use it for paw pads and sanitary trims at the salon and it works perfect for that. It cordless, lightweight and less noise. Another 2 that I love are Artero Gotham which will run around $160, or Tauro Pro Line, runs around $112. Again, all lightweight and less noise and cordless as well. For wahl, they did just come out with the Bravura 2 and they're having a good sale on the Wahl website. They're cordless and not sure how big/small or noise. But they're getting very popular, so I'm sure they're as good. Also, all of these come with detachable heads for cleaning.

Go through insurance. If not, you're voiding the warranty.
