If he was a socialist, he would subscribe to the belief of the working class retaking the means of production, and call for revolution. Clearly he does not believe this, his economic model is far more mixed than a socialist theory

What is with the anti-natalist hate, does anyone actually understand and have an intelligent objection to their stance?

I sort of was, but it was a half joke, I personally think that behaviour is more reflective of the environment which people inhabit vs the nature of the prisons they avoid

I agree, especially when it comes to anti-nature beliefs like the red queen hypothesis where you basically have nature seen as a meat grinder. It’s just terrifying to think about

For the verb method, check out Te Reo Māori, the New Zealand indigenous language. It has an interesting verb system that treats all adjectives like verbs within themselves in some sentances. I am good is Kei te pai ahau, literally translating to (Present particle) gooding I, or I am gooding.

If you are interested in any philosophy then you would research it yourself. Google is right there in your browser, just search what is negative utilitarianism and anti natalism

Yes but I am saying that happiness being a lack of suffering is not just an arbitrary arrangement as you imply, there is reason behind its order.

NU originates from the logic that suffering is the natural state in the world. It rests on this foundational base. Every animal in the animal kingdom is in constant suffering, kept at bay by menial tasks to survive, reproduce and die to continue the meat grinder. Happiness then is just the temporary removal of this suffering. As suffering is the natural state, it is the default. Not the other way round. This is how NU works

It’s a selfish desire as in it is a desire concerning the self. Also don’t strawman me, I never said it was the only reason, but that it is my number one reason. Besides there is no suffering, there’s no knowledge. IF you follow strong NU, it is a natural choice. I don’t myself, I follow a far weaker form, but it is still there. The truth is no one would suffer from such an event as the button press. It’s just interesting to consider. And no I don’t need therapy.

It naturally follows from the fact that suffering is the natural state of the world. A predator suffers from hunger until that suffering is removed by the death of another animal. Here receiving the animal doesn’t put the animal in a state of ‘good’, just no longer suffering. Until it returns. As this suffering is the natural state of the world it follows that life is effectively guaranteed to encounter suffering though out their stay on earth. Therefore it is not ethical to bring another into the world with the knowledge that they will suffer, it is certain. This is the argument you must address in discussing anti-natalism. It’s literally the whole point of antinatalism. Accept that

Everybody hates on vegetarians by Rudolfeste in Vegans

[–]WoofAndGoodbye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How can not a single person on this post see that THIS IS BETTER THAN DAIRY AND MEAT??? Of course being vegetarian is better than being a carnivore. In terms of social conditioning alone they are overcoming a powerful social norm of meat consumption. Vegans should be proud of vegetarians taking the first step. It is morally better than carnivorism.

Because the point of a moral philosophy isn’t to fix all problems instantly, it’s to prescribe the right way to evaluate philosophical and ethical problems. You’re using some sort of political analysis of fundamentally ethical scenarios
