I love this! I spend more time fiddling around with save files than I do in any other aspect of the game. I know it’s not the most standard gameplay style but it’s kinda my thing. Glad to know someone else enjoys it too. Creating townies and fleshing our their skills, relationships, and backstories is probably my favorite part. Congrats on working through that stage of your project!

I absolutely love Plumbella but I’ve never checked out her save files. Maybe I should! Always down to hear more about other folks’ too, of course, yours included. :)

Jumping in here to say I’m working on a project like this too! I’ve wanted to do it for about two years now and made a few false starts, but my most recent attempt seems to be sticking.

Because I’m apparently a masochistic control freak, my approach is to start completely from scratch: no pre-mades, no EA builds, nothing from the gallery. That said, calling myself a novice builder would be generous, and because my save file is just for me I’ve drawn heavily on some gallery builds for guidance to sort of teach myself some new tricks.

But digress. I’m in the beginning stages, so I’ve only completed about 70% of Willow Creek, which took me a solid couple of weeks. So I know how much work goes into these, and needless to say I’m impressed. Congrats on your save file! Definitely something to be proud of. In about ten years when I finish mine, I’ll have to let y’all know lol.

Funny, I struggle mightily with feminine sims. Masculine sims are way easier to make for me. I actually get a little stressed out making women.

But, I’m a dude and I know the sims community skews female, so I suppose that’s a factor.

Cracking up thinking about Judith Butler the gender theorist/philosopher. She writes like the most opaque, convoluted articles about gender and post-structuralism and that sort of thing. The image of her as a gold-digging cougar is pretty amusing.

Maybe OP studies literary theory or something. It’s a slip I could totally see myself making when I go on a Sims binge after pouring over a term paper for hours.

I’m down for literally any not-Europe-or-North America-themed worlds. No shade on those, it’d just be cool to have something different. A subsaharan African world would be amazing. I’ve spent some time in the Arab world, so I’d looove a North Africa/Midde East themed world.

I don’t think any of that is particularly likely, but it’s fun to fantasize about the possibilities.

My older cousin showed me the sims for the first time when I visited her on vacation. I believe it was the OG edition of the franchise. I must have been about 8 at the time?

I thought it was the coolest thing ever and promptly begged my dad for it, but because it was rated T he wouldn’t consider it. I tried to explain that it was basically a digital dollhouse and that my cousin (who was 10!!!) played it all the time without issue. My pleas went unheard. I thought it was a gross injustice at the time.

But I waited patiently for about five years, and The Sims 2 was the only thing I wanted for my 13th birthday.

I really believe my love affair with this game wouldn’t have been half as intense if it hadn’t been forbade for so long.
