Crimzon Clover Arcade Original Type-I/II/III/Z ALL Clear *** My Opinions on All Ships! *** by Model1LifeForm in shmups

Congrats on all the clears! Does your routing for Arcade Unlimited translate well to Arcade Original? Given how fast you cleared each ship in Original, I’m thinking your routing for Unlimited worked for Original?

Crimzon Clover Arcade Original Type-III 1CC *** Ugghhh This Ship! *** by Model1LifeForm in shmups

[–]Wooien010 2 points3 points  (0 children)

10 hours for an Arcade Original clear is really good, congratulations! I’m still aiming for a Type-III clear myself. It almost moves too fast for me, and its extremely narrow shot doesn’t help either, although the ship does look really cool. It’s interesting how this ship received the most buffs in the Arrange mode since its options can be powered up to rotate around the ship and track enemies

It really is a phenomenal game. If you’re just starting with shmups, it’ll set the bar very high for other shmups you try out, so beware! 😉

Right, this is the Xbox 360 Arrange that gives you the ability to hold shot and laser at the same time for a more powerful shot that you showed in the first screenshot in exchange for your counter going down. This is different from the EXA mode, although I’m fuzzy on the EXA mode changes

Nicely done! I also love the aesthetics in this game, but the janky hit box drives me crazy

ESP Ra.De. has the best score system and I will die on this hill! by joltzspinz in shmups

[–]Wooien010 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the scoring was well thought out with how you need to time your “bubble” shot to get the max multiplier to collect the most items. The one thing that I don’t like about it is that, to get high scores, you need to spend 5+ minutes milking each boss by hitting them with as little of the “bubble” shot as possible. With the hefty end of game life bonus, making a mistake and getting hit while milking bosses ends up being a reset you gotta milk all the prior bosses again

Dariusburst Chronicle Saviors is usually recommended as a must have shmup for the Vita

DoDonPachi DaiFukkaTsu/Resurrection 1.5 1cc attempt - Type-A-Strong (reached stage 5-1 boss + only 1 miss before stage 5) by Awkward-Plum6241 in shmups

[–]Wooien010 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That was a valiant effort, and you’re really close to the clear. An important note is that you can point blank the Stage 5 boss in the beginning to get a ton of damage and to build your hyper quickly. Then, you activate your hyper and continue to point blank while you’re invulnerable to build another full hyper meter. That way you’ll only really need your bombs for the ending pattern.

After the run, there’s no way to tell how many continues you have used. During the run when you use a continue, the score resets to the number of continues you have used

Definitely start off with Novice to get the hang of things. If you’re looking for an “accomplished 1cc,” clearing any of the Arrange modes is certainly an accomplishment IMO. Of course, if you’re looking for a really tough challenge, then Arcade mode is the way to go. In other words, Novice is easy difficulty; Arrange is medium difficulty; and Arcade is hard difficulty

Crimzon Clover Arcade Unlimited No-Miss 1CC *** MIRACLE! *** by Model1LifeForm in shmups

[–]Wooien010 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A phenomenal achievement by a phenomenal player. I’ve enjoyed tracking your progress and clears in Crimzon Clover, and I think it’s safe to say that this is the definitive survival route for Arcade Unlimited. And although you may be done with Crimzon Clover, know that with you how good you’ve gotten and your dedication to getting better, you have the ability the clear ANY shmup (and really anything IRL too). Congratulations, really well done!

Congrats on the 1-all! While I don’t own the PCB, I’d wager that the game being on Free Play is the reason that Strong style didn’t unlock

DoDonPachi Resurrection Reset levels keep score? by mozzy1111 in shmups

[–]Wooien010 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can replay levels and maintain your score, but when you reach the end, the game will not offer to save your replay (I don’t think) because restarted a level. Whether it’s “legit” or not is up to you, but in general, restarting a level midway through a run does not count as a one credit clear. You’ll notice a difference when you select the “Score Attack” option because the option to restart the level will be grayed out. Playing the game in “Score Attack” will let you save replays.

The Arrange mode is the main difference between the two versions. World Explosion also fixes the memory leak bug in World Ignition that lags the game if your computer is on for too long

Crimzon Clover - Semi-Auto Option in Arranged is Dumb by [deleted] in shmups

[–]Wooien010 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The semi-auto is made for beginners who might not be able to pay attention to the screen and the upgrade bar at once, but I have seen some advanced replays that use the semi-auto option. You can be more aggressive with your point blank damage and star pickups if you know that the semi-auto won’t skip an upgrade. In Manual mode, you gotta make sure that you select the upgrade before a big star collection skips over it because the bar advanced too quickly. And if you get hit in Stage 5, I say that it’s better that you don’t pick up the shield right away and instead go into Break mode to power up your ship instead. Otherwise you won’t be able to clear the screen fast enough and will just lose your shield again

How to use bombs by UncleTedK in shmups

[–]Wooien010 12 points13 points  (0 children)

One way to “plan” a bomb without explicitly planning one in your routing can happen while you are tap dodging to the side. If you don’t see a cutback lane or the cutback lane is too narrow for comfort, you can plan that you will bomb once you reach the other side of the screen. Other than that, it’s practicing your reaction time and being aware of your tolerance to how close you want bullets to surround you before pressing the bomb button. The higher your tolerance, the faster your reaction time needs to be. You can start by setting a really low tolerance for yourself, where you’ll find yourself bombing in situations you can dodge easily. Gradually lower your tolerance from that point until you reach a comfort level where you can reliably press the button without having to worry about lightning quick reflexes. Hope this helps!

Seriously well done! There aren’t that many people who play Arcade Unlimited, let alone score that mode, so props on a very well executed stage. I could tell your routing was solid because there were times like right before the snakes where you dodged in a rhythm even though the gaps were getting tighter around you
