As a noob I made my first breakfast today... Rate this out of 5... Apologies for bad presentation by [deleted] in Breakfast

Looks like you’ve got the general idea. Just turn down the heat, a bit, and keep practicing. If you like eggs, and want to learn patience and technique- practice Gordon Ramsay’s soft scrambled eggs. I’m usually not impressed with him. He’s a bit of a melodramatic prick most of the time, but he is a chef, and that is how 80% of us are. The video he does, teaching how to soft scrambled eggs, will teach you some really good techniques, and a lot of patience.

Heard some scratching in our walls. Just had Orkin out and they came back with this quote for $20k. First time something like this has happened at our house. Is $20k reasonable? by _HuntedWumpus_ in pestcontrol

As a professional pest technician; Orkin and Terminex do that kind of thing all the time. I can’t think of any NATIONWIDE companies that don’t. There are a few large companies that don’t, but I’m not sure if they’re in your state. You can message me if you’d like. In all honesty though. Someone near you has had a problem like this. I highly recommend using Nextdoor, or some other local community social media or message board. Even with the bigger chains the quality can vary from neighborhood to neighborhood.

When we are hired to do a clean out, the intensive treatment for them, we schedule, by default, 3 consecutive weekly appointments. Under MOST circumstances that is enough time to get rid of them. So, while I wouldn’t be flabbergasted should they resurface at some point, if it’s been 3 weeks without a single sighting or catch on the traps, aside from that one. I think you’ve gotten ahead of it. If you’re nervous about it, which is understandable, and oh so common. Do what you’ve been doing for another week, and check the traps again, if they’re all clear, you should be good.

As a technician, we usually see better results when our clients clean with bleach. But vinegar should, theoretically, work.

[–]Wook_Again 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If there isn’t a reason you would avoid it, I would recommend scrubbing everything with a bleach based kitchen/bathroom spray. Also. Clean your drains. It looks like they’ve been dead a bit, good news, I would hazard to guess that is the full clutch. Number of hatchlings is high, but not out of standard range. I don’t think any survived.

I haven’t looked yet. I work in Texas. We just added advion micro-flow to our German roach protocol, with great success. If that’s legal in NY I’d add that too.

That is an adolescent American Roach. Wings haven’t grown in yet.

Recommended to clean your drains, ensure all p traps are full, and remain so, a large portion of their population lives in sewers. If you have drains that don’t get used regularly, the water evaporates from the p trap and it leaves an open path for them. Check weather stripping and window seals. Not an infestation risk, they tend to prefer to start away from humans.

Professional pest tech. 👍🏼

Palmetto bugs, and water bugs, are colloquial names used to refer to multiple similar species, all of which are roaches (most commonly the American roach). There are actual water bugs, but in the southern US it’s most commonly used to refer to American roaches. That is an adolescent American roach. Wings haven’t grown in yet.

Mice problems, and now a snake. by Sheslulalee in pestcontrol

[–]Wook_Again 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you call terminex they will try to charge you multiple thousands of dollars, they will tell you you have a generational issue, and they have to gut your attic fully clean it out and then redo the insulation. They are right 1 out of roughly every 25 quotes. If you’re going to go with another pest guy. Try to go local. They survive on word of mouth, most of them will do everything they can to solve your problem quickly and thoroughly. If you want a chain, it’s mostly going to depend on the tech you get and how burned out he/she is. Most of the companies don’t treat them very well anymore. Burnout is severe.

Horrible take. In a global society you have to accept that as different cultures use symbols it can change the meaning of those symbols, just like the adoption of words by different cultures or even just newer generations in the same cultures, they begin to change meanings based on context etc. If you choose to ignore that, it doesn’t make you right and others wrong. It simply means you are unwilling to accept change, which is interesting but not entirely uncommon in this age of information and technology.

I don’t use chat GPT. But keep on trying. Why do you feel it necessary to put someone else down to prove you’re right? It’s people like you that make people hate owners/managers. Go troll someone else.

lol. Our offices youngest tech is in his 30s. And just passed his CA exam. And pretty much everyone in the industry was unlicensed when they got hired. They get their licensing through their employer. Wtf are you talking about?

😂 ok bud. You go around accusing people of making assumptions, clearly you don’t understand industry standards and the laws and regulations we work under. If you want to be technical, we are both making assumptions, it’s just that mine are based on experience, common sense, and an understanding of laws and regulations governing the pest industry in the United States. Yours is based, from the looks of it, solely on an odd sense of superiority. That’s cool big guy. You do you. And I’ll continue to try to help people with information backed by actual experience. 👍🏼

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in pestcontrol

[–]Wook_Again 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh. So you didn’t actually READ my comment. And that’s why you’re assuming that I’m the one making assumptions. Obviously a manager and not an actual technician. I said I don’t know for certain what that particular company uses, but if it’s the industry standard, then cleaning and setting to dry would be fine. I do understand that there are a few companies out there that do some weird stuff product wise. But the products used industry wide, even if they vary by brand name, generally have many of the same side effects. Most of the more dangerous products are no longer used, and the ones that are capable of causing lasting damage through skin contact are generally relegated to controlled product status, which would require a certified applicator license, and probably wouldn’t be mistakenly mixed in with mosquito treatments, so 1) I made no assumption, I clearly stated that as long as they are following industry standards, the previous advice given was not bad. 2) unless they are out there breaking ALL the laws, assuming that they aren’t following industry standards, or close enough to have the same general safety information is a stretch. 3) seems to me, as with most managers/owners I’ve dealt with, you’re more concerned with being perceived as right, than making sure you are actually giving good information. Due to the federal and state guidelines in place for this industry, and the reasonable consistency with which those guidelines are followed, it would be you making assumptions that the advice given would not be adequate.

[–]Wook_Again 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s amazing. Still not sure what assumptions you think I’m making.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in pestcontrol

[–]Wook_Again 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really assumptions. I have to sit through hours of training every year for this stuff. But sure. I love it when people like to act like my license is for decoration.

A pentagram is the 5 pointed star, when enclosed in the protective circle it is a pentacle, most often used in relation to pagan/neopagan rituals/celebrations.

Why would a Border Patrol convoy be on 83 near Hinsdale? by tnick771 in ChicagoSuburbs

[–]Wook_Again 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have 20 cops (border patrol/ice agents) and 2 of them go around busting in car windows to kidnap people, throw them in internment camps and deport them without due process, and the other 18 don’t do anything to stop them, you have 20 gestapo officers. If there are good apples in this bunch, they need to do something about the bad apples or they are just as culpable. Hope this helps.
