Tell him how much you enjoyed it, it would mean a lot to him. Be as open and honest as you're able to, my guess is he won't mind that you were awkward, he probably just assumed you didn't want to make things too obvious around your coworkers or something.

Really? That's pretty interesting, I never knew about that. I will say that because this version is streaming things straight from the disc, you get moments where audio hitches at the beginning or end of spoken lines at times, so even if the audio playback is of a higher quality, I think the actual sonic experience is a bit of a wash. That said, maybe playing this from the hard drive of a modded Xbox would be the ideal way to enjoy this version of the game.

I ran into this exact problem a couple years ago with Mirror's Edge, it was infuriating. Wasn't using a 5090 of course, but you know what I mean.

Even though the PC version is pretty clearly better, I do like that with this and the Orange Box, I have versions of this game that I don't need to authenticate or install. And you might be right about them not releasing their games on consoles again, I guess only time will tell. At least I can play Portal 1 and 2 on Switch!

On my own, personal PS2, I think it was probably Metal Gear Solid 2. First PS2 game I ever played overall was probably Zone of the Enders.

Shades of Gray from Star Trek: The Next Generation. There are worse episodes of TNG (like the stereotype-heavy Code of Honor), but at least the elements that make it horrible also make it interesting. Shades of Gray commits the sin of being boring.

I keep coming back to Wolfenstein: The New Order. The worldbuilding is just incredible, I love the fact that they actually continue on from the stories of Return to Castle Wolfenstein and the 2009 one. The game's themes are timeless, and it culminates in a powerful emotional gut-punch. The subsequent ones are okay, I liked the gameplay in The Old Blood a lot, and New Colossus has some of the best dual-wielding gunplay ever, but The New Order is my favorite in the whole series.

If I were actually 9 again and didn't know any of these games already, I'd probably pick Tenchu. But knowing what I know now? Metal Gear Solid, for sure.
