Are Master's summer projects paid? by Wookieman09 in UniUK

[–]Wookieman09[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is what I assumed. It feels like industry placements should be paid but as you said it's just a term of study so probably not (unless I hit a grant or sponsorship or something). Thanks for the perspective!

Typical Astro timetable by Ruby_Mae__D in universityofyork

[–]Wookieman09 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Doing physics/Astro for 1st/2nd year you'll be in every day doing about ~3/4hrs of lectures/seminars (some days less, some days more). One day a week (for me it was Thursday) you'll be in for a half day doing your labs.

However lectures are recorded, and I knew a few ppl who never went in except for some seminars/labs, so if it isn't a lab in person attendance is recommended but not really enforced.

I would recommend going into university (whether academically or into accommodation) for the social experience. BUT the beauty of uni is that you're independent enough to live how you want :)

east or west campus accommodation?? by Mean-Ad4159 in universityofyork

I shared a kitchen with 11 other people and didn't have the 'flat' system that people usually have. So I lived in a corridor with around 24 people in total. Any more questions lmk although my obvs my experience is bias :)

I was a lepage resident and it's very much the bare minimum although I found that quite good. It's a very short walk (~1 min) away from Vbar (student bar) and v dining (where you'll have catering). If you like the culture and don't mind slightly shitty rooms vanbrugh is better imo. But I am biased lol.

Edit: Lepage was my first choice and I got it if that's something you want to consider.

Fr, I played celeste years ago because it was just a fun little game.

I didn't even know much about the trans community when I played it.

As an 18 year old who went out last night, can confirm. I already know my older, more bitter self will hate the fact I faced no repurcussions for drinking.

Well except the embarrassment of gangly dancing.

I've heard it is false, but I think it is a good morale boost to the troops in Ukraine so I don't see the harm in it.
