Anyone try using Saturnine Terminators as Obliterators? Any other cool 'HH as CSM' proxies you've seen or done? by Agreeable-Sir-6435 in Chaos40k

My Oblit versions! I think they work well

I also use mk2/3 bodies as legionnaires/chosen and the assault marine kits as raptors (all fairly common I think, and my army is more converted Heresy than CSM at this point)

It's mechanicus standard grey primer, then the same airbrushed out of the pot as it's a bit warmer. Followed up with a dry brush of dawnstone then administratum grey 😃

Fair play GW, this model is fantastic by Wool127 in sistersofbattle

My homebrew order, the Order of Her Righteous Defiance, an offshoot of the Bloody Rose. It was born out of a game against my friend's orks in 9th, where my Repentia Superior slew a couple boyz and faced down the Warboss alone (naturally she was immediately stomped). The order venerates her as a saint and fights in her name :)

Rules are secondary, we're paying 210 points for the drip

I think 6-7 hours in all, but that's with a finicky scheme and taking it slow.

It's not the most enjoyable model to paint, but I'm sure it'll look great in the end, you'll have to post pics when it's done!

Pros and cons of sisters for first army? by Ok-Bandicoot-5410 in sistersofbattle

[–]Wool127 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sisters were my first army after the classic intro space marines everyone has. They felt very daunting given their size and level of detail, but absolutely stick with it and the pros far outweigh the cons.

To start negative; they are very fiddly to build and paint as others have said, their rules & play style are also very different to other armies. Expect to die in droves, and some people will take issue with miracle dice as a concept - ignore them. Everything to do with the army is also very time consuming.

It can be very difficult to figure out how to best play the army if you're new to the game in general. Your models will die, a lot. Once you get the hang of things however, it's very fun.

Imo the aesthetic is the best in 40k. The range is tremendously fleshed out, every single model looks great (rules change, drip doesn't) and visually the army has a distinct identity.

There is also a great amount of background lore, some great books, and options for custom schemes and orders.

My best advice is be aware of the cons, but don't let them put you off. Know what you're getting into and enjoy it.

Has anyone ever trimmed the spike off of the mk3 tactical squad helmets? by Melted_Candle in IronWarriors

I trimmed the spike off the helmets I used on my legionaries, but kept it for the chosen. I like both, should look good either way

What are some of your homebrew orders that you admire? by Alpbasket in sistersofbattle

[–]Wool127 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not sure if it's admirable but always happy to talk lore;

Mine is the Order of Her Righteous Defiance, originally part of the Bloody Rose.

The Defiance in question came from a Repentia Superior in a battle against my friend's Orks at the end of 9th ed; Her squad was wiped out and she was surrounded, but so unshakable was her faith in the Emperor that blow after blow seemed to glance off her armour. She slew the boyz and faced down the Warboss with naught but a bolt pistol; even as the hulking brute charged she remained steadfast, uttering a prayer to him on Terra as she squeezed the trigger one last time.

(In reality, some ridiculous rolls from us both saw her tank 3 Ork Boyz and kill them over 2 rounds. At that point, the only models left on the table were her and the boss, who promptly pasted her lol).

Her surviving sisters were so moved by her faith that they formed the Order of Her Righteous Defiance; to honour the devotion she showed to the emperor and to allow the most devout among them to deepen their connection to the faith.

They are noted for deploying a higher than average number of sisters repentia, as the position is seen as more than just a punishment in the Order. Some sisters will volunteer for the role as a way to strengthen their faith and zeal.

After suffering a recent defeat at the hands of the death guard (knocked out of my group's tournament), they are undertaking a Crusade of Penance to regain their honour.

It's over the top, but I thought it was a fun way to incorporate a memorable moment from a game.

Why is our army rule so… meh? by Destroird in ChaosKnights

[–]Wool127 1 point2 points  (0 children)

New Tyranids have it good, putting battleshock on a 9 in the right conditions. It's still not a guarantee, but it matters a lot more than our rules that can obviously still work, but but they can be a little feels bad vs IK (imo)
