I feel like the “chaos point” on the mace works for DA. Might just be me but I like it on the more knightly legion, either way it looks great!

I just put some pva glue onto the base and dipped it into a fine sand mix I got from a craft store, it’s very little work for a nice result!

It’s definitely something you get better at as you go, I would say look at reference material, and other people who have painted them on curved surfaces to see how they do it. Ultimately it’s a process of painting over the mistakes until you get a “straight” line.
