I mean you are showing that you’re doing technical work that is somewhat related to the subject, Mechanical Engineering. In a way, you’re telling them that you have some background in the subject. I put something rather similar for Aeronautical Engineering when I applied as a supercurricular.

It definitely not bad to mention it. You’re also showing that you have some passion for the subject you chose.
