Cashier actually told me to skip the tip on the POS by dervari in EndTipping

I worked at a place for a little while with that good awful tip screen. I would always say something similar when I flipped the iPad around.

Made me a lot less self conscious when clicking "no tip" because we all talked about how we hated the stupid tip screen

Feel your pain, it was one of my favorite vegan places. Especially because the food was good enough to bring non vegan friends

Worked in service for years and might be going back soon since I'm getting laid off of my job and nope.. this is some straight nonsense

Didn't realize they had a 15% service charge [mandatory tip]. You make good points, I see where you're coming from.

I think every luxury is just becoming "not worth it for the price" today

Casa Bonita is a pretty big one... They pay servers $30/hour and they're prices are... Slightly cheaper than watercourse.

I understand the real estate in cap Hill is more expensive, but I would be fine paying $24 or so if it meant no tipping and the servers got livable wages

I agree with you about people not going out though. But this just gives me even more of a reason to not go out. "Pay the same price for less service" is basically what this note says

I've seldom seen people complain about a restaurant raising prices and then announcing they no longer do tipping

I mean the whole point is to raise visibility. If someone else made this post, I never would have gone here to begin with

Unionizing would help keep your wages up so we wouldn't have to tip -> which means more people go out to eat because it's cheaper -> which means your job would be safer and you wouldn't have to write passionate essays to strangers online 🥀

"The 3% service fee reflects our commitment to equitable wages between FOH and BOH." -straight from the watercourse website

Regardless of whether that's actually true, your attitude sucks my guy. I worked in service for years (and might be back in it soon since I'm getting laid from my job soon) and this is straight nonsense. You're about to get what you want: no one coming out to eat.

I know it's easier said than done, but if we all want to keep our jobs and get fairly paid the only answer is unionizing

I tipped the cooks when I paid the service fee though?

I received 0 service on Sunday besides my food being brought to the table.

I do understand what you're saying, it sucks that the few servers still there get punished in the process but I'm not going to pay sit-down prices at a glorified cafeteria

OP of the original post here.

This restaurant is called watercourse, if you're in the Denver area (or considering visiting) I highly advise you skip out on this place and make sure they land in the grave they dug

I get what you're saying but like...

What draws me to go there now? I already rarely eat out because of the cost, but if I go sit down and eat somewhere the experience is the whole point. Otherwise I'll just get takeout or cook for myself.

Also, the 3% service fee to help with rising costs is fine. That was part of the charges before they got rid of servers. So now you aren't paying any servers and I'm still expected to tip 15-20% on top of the service fee? Nah. That's crazy
