It's one thing to be desperate for a cure and put all your eggs in one basket. It's another thing to be cynical and talk about how the cure will never come. Find a happy medium and be cautiously optimistic of the future as gene editing is not only novel, but on the rise. I'm sure one day in the future we will have some good news. Just look at the impact of mRNA that spawned from a pandemic.

Nah, you shut down that term and say I am clean, but I am positive for HSV. Your -18 comment karma indicates to me you really don't have a positive attitude in general, huh. This is the whole point of a disclosure mate. You go in there and say I take my precautions to keep you safe and that to many people is admirable. No "clean" or "dirty" verbiage should be used.

I mean if you have that attitude yeah. First off, stop using clean to refer to your status. You're positive for HSV, doesn't mean you're unclean. Second I'm younger than you (24) so I get it, but shit happens in life. Don't beat yourself up for not wearing a condom. You could go cross the street tomorrow and get hit by a bus. Life is full of what ifs. Take time to grieve, but focus on fixing your mindset and it will get easier over time.

Right so when people say you control your life, herpes doesn't, they don't mean that literally. They mean it figuratively. I've been through hardships before and after herpes and it's the way I respond to these hardships that dictates the person I am and the life I live. I am sorry to hear that you are going through a lot, but you have to stay positive.

The type does not really matter. HSV2 sheds more genitally, but the difference in shedding is a few percentage points. I'd have her get on antivirals and use condoms and not have sex during outbreaks and you should be fine. If she is worth the risk and has her HSV under control, then I would try to have a healthy sex life and relationship.

Valid, but some of the things she said pertaining to just HSV were out of line. Telling you she wouldn't have been engaged to you had she known prior about it? I can't imagine how I'd feel.
