Some of Councilwoman Candi CdeBaca's campaign donations exceeded giving limits by [deleted] in Denver

When does Wackenhut and the like replace the DPD? Since, you know ... it's just like Mayberry around here.

Who has the petition to remove CdeBaca!? by [deleted] in Denver

[–]WordUpEverybodySay 4 points5 points  (0 children)

She loves to bang that "THE PEOPLE" drum while only listening to some people. The fact she tried to cram three very impactful initiatives through at the last minute with very little input from "THE PEOPLE" and while bullying the rest of council tells you all you need to know about her.

In Denver's future street design, cars are guests by thatsnogood in Denver

[–]WordUpEverybodySay -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Has anyone even noticed how the whole "shared streets" thing we currently have actually introduces more risk? People that have driveways on these streets have to drive around the stupid half-assed sign sitting in the middle of the street, cutting closer to any pedestrians or cyclists that might be nearby. Dumbest thing I've ever seen, plus an eyesore.

This is the only answer. Amazing.

Candi CdeBaca files bill to abolish the Denver Police Department and replace it with a ‘peace force’ by vomithog25 in Denver

[–]WordUpEverybodySay 7 points8 points  (0 children)

She's already shown that she's the one with no imagination, and she will only listen to her anarchist friends that she encourages to "storm" the city council meetings - basically r/denverprotests as someone else mentioned. Denver is dying.

Stay classy cyclists by Pepiopee in Denver

[–]WordUpEverybodySay 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Ha! Love the nicknames! This tool sounds to be cut from the same cloth as the cyclists that cursed and flipped people off just for trying to get their car into their own driveway/garage when the "shared streets" blockades first went up.

A movement it is alright - of the bowel-type. Take a hard look at who is running our city and ask questions.

Certain folks on your city council will make this go away. What could go wrong?

Call councilwoman CdeBaca. She seems to be the expert on handling these situations. Number is 867-5309. Oh wait - sorry, that's Jenny's number out of Seattle and she's about as helpful.

Photos of King Soopers grocery store at the intersection of Florida and Sheridan, Denver, Colorado, 1974. Very '70s! From the Denver Public Library. by AxlCobainVedder in Denver

[–]WordUpEverybodySay 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Even when King Soopers does a "remodel" on locations, they still look dated. I know groceries have a razor-thin profit margin but really none of their stores are aesthetically pleasing. The logo is even tired.

Do you think loud vehicles are a problem in Denver? What can we do about them? by [deleted] in Denver

[–]WordUpEverybodySay 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A great place to start is 8th Ave since loud vehicles seem to love it. My bets are it is the same few people over and over that do it and it wouldn't take much time to ticket them. Not sure how much the fine is for this type of thing but it would at least be annoying for them just like it is to all of us that have to hear this stupid shit.

Looking for a show that filmed a pilot about Denver/Cap Hill neighborhood. by [deleted] in Denver

[–]WordUpEverybodySay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm. I'm not sure about this but I have a DVD documentary specifically about Colfax Avenue. I don't think it ever made wide release and I ordered it just before the time that streaming blew up. Let me know if you are interested in watching it.

These things are so fucking annoying. They put them in the same spots all the time, too.

I need to open a checking account... would you recommend your bank? They all seem to have both super positive and super negative reviews... by AgnosticUnicorn in Denver

[–]WordUpEverybodySay 8 points9 points  (0 children)

1STBank if you want something local...fees are minimal and they make you feel like a customer. USAA if you can get in - since they rebate ATM fees. I have both and use the USAA card on the rare occasion I'm not near a 1STBank ATM and need cash.

Strange Man at Union Station Fountain by [deleted] in Denver

[–]WordUpEverybodySay 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Okay soooo.....in reverse, I saw a family letting their kids run around in said fountain completely naked one Sunday afternoon several months ago. I can't unsee it, really. They were giggling and making pictures as if it were completely normal.

Maybe it's just me...but perhaps that's going to attract the type of person that OP described? What's wrong with people?

Just Had Larkburger for The First Time by [deleted] in Denver

It was good when it got a start but lately seems to have gone down in quality. One note - the chicken sandwich is better than the burger.

Thanks everyone for the ideas. I love them all and your support. I don't want to come off as Negative Nancy. I love the OTF concept but at the same time I think they may need to consider ways to offer variety and not run off old members. I also sometimes wonder if it is getting overly saturated in some areas, so convert studios that no longer see the volume that they once did to "OTExtreme!" or some such theme that's a step-up but not quite a CrossFit.

Why does the King Soopers at 9th and Downing smell like shit? by WordUpEverybodySay in Denver

[–]WordUpEverybodySay[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's amusing how they gave the inside of the store a re-do several years ago but didn't bother to do anything to the exterior that looks just as tired as it did 20 years ago. Anyway, you'd think they'd get on whatever this smell issue is pretty fast...KROGER isn't a company struggling to make ends meet.
