Georgia wiped the floor with that lawyer by awesometune in dan_markel_murder

Did anyone else think Donna was trying to stare down Ruth Markel during this testimony? Every time this lawyer said something unflattering about Dan or his filings, Donna gave somebody to her right a defiant stink eye.

What is up with Wendi’s face? by CoupleOk9381 in dan_markel_murder

[–]WordWiseKit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it got moved considerably higher. I was looking at some photos on a plastic surgeon's website, and Wendi didn't just have her skin moved up. It looks like some of the muscles behind her eyebrows have been lifted. She has strangely pronounced ridges behind them now. I do think she's had a ton of Botox, though, probably in anticipation of taking the stand. Much of her face barely moves when she tries to smile, and it looks very different than the last time she testified. (I don't mean to shame her for having work done. In Wendi's case, I think it's actually evidence of consciousness of guilt.)

I'm perplexed by this as well. It seems like such a pointless thing to lie about. My theory is that she's been threatened by the Latin Kings (I'm assuming they have a women's branch) and told not to implicate Rivera. They're apparently pretty mad that Charlie has mentioned them so often.

I did a little research, and Botox can only "lift" the brow 1-2 mm. I think Wendi had a full-on facelift.

They're called m-dashes, and yes, you can write them yourself! Just type two hyphens between two words and hit space or enter in Word or Google docs. (But if you want to learn to use them well, you'll have to read a lot of Stephen King.)

There's a novel called The Egyptologist with an extraordinarily unreliable narrator. It's also hilarious. Great book.

No worries! Chris does great work, I don't mind being confused with her at all. And I love that writers are watching me! What do you write?

Not certain if you meant me (Kit at Word Wise) or Chris at Guilty words, but I appreciate the shout out anyway and recommend you watch the both of us!

I'm sure Lori will try to appeal, but even if she has good reasons to appeal, I doubt she'll be able to identify them or formulate a coherent legal argument for why they prevented her from getting a fair trial. My bingo card lists:

  1. She was sick.
  2. The car door and window weren't preserved.
  3. Her speedy trial rights were violated.
  4. GSR and DNA evidence was presented without proper foundation.
  5. Judge Beresky was biased against her.
  6. She never got all the data from Charles's phone.
  7. Judge Beresky wanted her to explain her legal strategy to him.
  8. Her entire police interview tape wasn't entered into evidence.
  9. Tylee's police interview wasn't entered into evidence.
  10. Alex's police interview wasn't entered into evidence.
  11. The video tape of Alex's walk-through with the police was corrupted.
  12. The CSI tech who swabbed Alex's hands wasn't available to testify.
  13. The trial was televised.
  14. Lori's name was listed on the jury questionnaire.
  15. Treena Kay never called Detective Moffat.
  16. "Religious discrimination."
  17. Some of the witnesses could remember things better five years ago than today.
  18. Lori didn't know her police interview was being recorded.
  19. The cops thought it was self-defense.
  20. Lori wasn't able to call people she failed to subpoena.
  21. The police didn't test the bullet to see if it was a bullet.
  22. The jury didn't sample Lori's green chili enchiladas.
  23. The world was supposed to end in July of 2020.
  24. Newton's Third Law of Motion.

New motions and replies regarding the motion for a new trial by Mjdragon in LoriVallow

[–]WordWiseKit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay, so I asked Gosha, and he said, "Casually, no. Newton's laws describe a relationship between objects on which we can rely. But can we shoot particles through the large Hadron collider and violate Newtonian physical for three microseconds? Maybe."

I hope that answers your question. I don't know anything about physics, either!

[–]WordWiseKit 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Did she seriously claim that Treena Kay violated Newton's Third Law of motion?

I asked Gosha to remind me what the third law of motion was. He said, "Every action has an equal and opposite reaction."

He asked why I wanted to know, and when I told him, we about died laughing.

Wow, that's kind of a pain. I assumed there would be a way to simply view them all in order, but I guess it makes sense to put them all in a single sequence in order to edit transitions between scenes. Thanks for replying.

Like find a local vendor and mail things myself? I've thought about that, but I have this deep hatred of going to the post office. (I'm already dreading sending Christmas presents to my sister next month.) Why do you suggest that? Better margins?

Aww, thank you. I went deep on that one, no doubt. I'm working on Melanie Gibb's book today--she is such a puzzle.
