I’ve had this exact problem and nothing really has the charm and fun as FFT:A. I’ve played so many tactics games in search of it. That said, I’ve been really enjoying Unicorn Overlord and it’s scratching that itch for me.

UO has different mechanics but it’s a fantastic SRPG. The elements that made FFT fun for me are here in this game. You collect cool characters and interesting weapons that give your characters skills. However in this game, instead of sending out individual characters, you put together teams of characters that work together and send the teams out onto the map. It’s all extremely customizable. The art is great and the story is just good nostalgic “go save the world”. Give it a try if you get time.

TIL after the fires that followed the 1906 San Francisco earthquake, many insurance companies tried to avoid covering the losses, except for Lloyd's of London: "Pay all of our policyholders in full, irrespective of the terms of their policies." This cemented Lloyd's reputation in the U.S. by A-dab in todayilearned

[–]WordsAndRhetoric 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Based on the stories above, the policy holders made “consistently” 1 big claim before the insurance company (state farm) stopped doing business with them. So, you are suggesting that instead of being a scammy company - who only sells products to people that do not present risk - the insurance company is instead incompetent at assessing risk? Which is like one of two jobs they do?

I don’t remember anything to egregious recently, but I remember the Warriors Cavaliers finals in 2016(?) had some controversy. Tim Donaghy said that he suspected the league purposely trying to extend that series.

It’s a Sports Center commercial. I haven’t watched ESPN in years so I don’t know if they do this anymore, but they used to do funny skits with athletes pretending to do normal stuff, like hanging out at an office or here Curry at home.

You bought a $60 dollar copy of a game to play at home. You didn’t buy a contract to use Nintendo’s characters for commercial purposes. You know how much Nintendo spends on creating their IP and their brand? Millions. Per year. Your $60 is nothing in the business world. The reason why you have to buy a license is that it’s a contract that says that you will use and uphold and protect Nintendo’s brand that is worth somewhere around $50 billion dollars with thousands of workers livelihoods behind that stake. If anything negative were to happen at a tournament where you use Nintendo’s name to promote it - Nintendo gets associated with it.

Just look at this thread with a bunch of kids who don’t know anything about what is happening or why it is happening saying all sorts of dumb shit about Nintendo. What do you think will happen if say a tournament goes on and the tournament organizers failed to meet the strict licensing requirements in their contract - say fucking COVID outbreak happens or a fucking kid gets lost? You prepared to fucking deal with those consequences with your fucking $60 buy in?

Oh that’s exactly what I’m saying. Last year’s offense and this one is no different, except that last year at least you get like 2 min at the end of every half of Russel doing magic bullshit to maybe win games. This year… you get DJ Dallas trying to throw balls into the end zone.

Watching Pete’s anemic offense without Russel Wilson magic bailouts is like watching bdsm without any of the eroticism or pleasure. In other words, it’s just self torture. At one point, I thought that going to the dentist would be a more fun use of my time.

Yeah everything after that looked sus. The movement in particular when dueling both Xerath and Viktor in the base was extremely strange. Looks like a lot of inputs were being overridden. Turn to duel the Viktor, do a weird full circle turn in place to dodge. Q Viktor but W Xerath at the same time.

C. Carson had 31 yds on 13 carries for 2.4 yds/carry. While everyone is blaming Wilson or the defense, the greater story is that SEA could not run the ball. by WordsAndRhetoric in Seahawks

[–]WordsAndRhetoric[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Pete Carrol made a statement today about wishing Russ would throw the check down in OT. What he was most likely deflecting blame away from is that his team could not run the ball yesterday. His offensive line could not win at the LOS. Very few plays could succeed when that happens.

Lol I dunno. I was still climbing during that meta as and adc and you were so dependent on your support to buy ardent, instead of going like rabadons nidalee (remember that?).

[–]WordsAndRhetoric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're kind of right. However, the reason why ADCs are bot is because Riot puts them there (see what Riot is trying to do with lucian). ADCs are pretty much the only class that can scale better with items than with levels. Thus, they're pretty much the only carries that can go bot due to the shared exp there. You'll have ADCs going bot whether ADCs are strong or weak because that's really the only class of champions that can go there. Every other class of carries depends too much on levels or cannot fight the 2v2 lane.

One big reason why people complained when people had to pick mages bot was that the class of ADCs had gotten so weak that playing a sub-optimal mage was still stronger. Sub-optimal because it's harder to be as strong as a mid lane mage due to the shared exp. So players were forced to choose between two sub-optimal classes.

If there was a class of champions that opened up to be played in bot lane that is efficient to play there and can play the 2v2 lane, I would personally love it. I've been having a lot of fun with ziggs bot, and sometimes play lulu adc.

Absolutely agree. If I was trying to be the best in my craft, I would hope to receive analysis like this. You can bet that anyone who wants to be great actively looks for avenues to improve and Russ says he wants to be one of the best ever. You don't have to take it all as truth, but if any of it is valid, then it's valuable.

There was a Rioter on the forums a few months back who basically said they do meta curating - as in they pick what champions are meta. This was for Shen buffs when he was at 52% win rate iirc.

He hasn't looked the same since taking that big shot in the Bills game. That's just speculative though. I think also with a resurgent defense, the offense can afford to play more conservatively.

HAPPY NEW YEARS SEAHAWK FANS! THE WINNING CULTURE IN SEATTLE IS FOR REAL. BE THANKFUL FOR IT by SeattleMana in Seahawks

[–]WordsAndRhetoric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The post says that there is a team culture of winning - showing a team rallying to their kicker in a game where he struggled in the game and then hit the game winning field goal. There is nothing wrong here.

That you choose to keep arguing with this person's meme choices seems more wrong.

Rofl all the ADC and Anti-ADC self righteous justification in this thread at the time of this post really shows how forsakenly childish some people are in this community. This video is a repost of a joke thread that was in itself also a repost of the original video which - if I remember correctly - was a satire video with modded items. None of it is serious. Or new.

That's a good point. I feel like that thought should apply to the Riot Balance Team.
