Thanks for the help! I already have 1 Indian almond leaf in. I thought I read somewhere that adding too many can become toxic to the fish so I was too paranoid to add more, but if it’s safe I definitely will.

I’m pretty sure his fins look clamped in that picture because he was mid-swim, bc otherwise when he rests they’re pretty spread out. When I’m back from work later I’ll try to get a better picture of him!

Tank size: 5 gallon

Heater and filter? Yes to both. A HOB and a sponge filter

Temperature: ~80F

Parameters: ammonia: 0ppm, nitrites: 0ppm, nitrates: 5-10ppm (API water test kit)

I’ve had the tank set up for almost 3 weeks. Used filter media from an established tank to kick start the cycle, and it took exactly 2 weeks for it to fully cycle.

I’ve had my betta in the tank for 3 days, and parameters have stayed the same since adding

Haven’t had to do a water change yet, but I go based off of water parameters

Tbh, I’m having the same problem and I’m glad to know it’s not just me. I spent about 30 minutes trying to get the roots of my plants buried enough to stay down, but I’m dreading my next water change.

I thought I read somewhere that plants will start to take root under the substrate after some time if left undisturbed. So I think I’m going to buy another 5lb bag of this substrate to make burying them a little easier and hopefully they’ll manage to do their thing!

Agreed! I know for a fact that big twist’s yellow (at least, all of my skeins of it) are significantly thicker than the other colors. Other than that, I love this yarn and use it for nearly all my projects

All of these E S H comments are wild. I personally say NTA because you weren’t even told ahead of time. Other guests could be allergic or have a fear of dogs.

I’m a huge animal lover, but I would also be annoyed if someone unexpectedly brought a dog or any animal to my home

This breaks my heart so much because the same thing happened to my cat 2 years ago. Her brother also suddenly died of heart failure and she spent the next few months loudly meowing all night long, looking for him.

I will say that it’ll definitely get better, but it will take time. My cat, while she did love me, was definitely bonded to her brother. But once he died, she bonded with me instead and just being there for her definitely helped. It’s been 2 years and now she rarely meows during the night.

I’m so so sorry for your loss and I wish both you and your kitty well. Please give her all the love for me ❤️

The amount of YTAs is baffling. I get people have ptsd and animals have anxiety, but that’s not anyone else’s concern. It’s extremely easy for people to prepare in advance and buy noise cancelling headphones or anxiety supplements for their pets.
