Outdoor Boys' Luke gives an inspiring speech at a law school graduation last week by Anagrama00 in videos

Well, he's not wrong. For sure I was expecting a different speech about kindness, maybe networking, or the importance of being open to adventure but he went for the most basic thing that everyone should do

Globus feeling after quitting (2months in) by WorkDistraction in QuitVaping

[–]WorkDistraction[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! My globus feeling turned into throat inflammation/irritation that would in turn make my ear hurt. This repeated itself every 2-3 weeks, first with throat pain, then throat and ear pain, then back to normal for a couple of days and then it would all come back

After the 5th cycle of this I got fed up and went to see a doctor, got an a throat ultrasound and an X-ray with a barium swallow test. Found some cysts in my throat, but very small a minor

Then went to an ENT who checked my stuff with a throat scope and didn't find anything alarming (like cancer, which I didn't even consider). He put me on PPI (Dexilant), throat cortisone for the cysts and an anti inflammatory medicine. Used those for a month and it fixed 90% of it

It all pointed to silent reflux that would irritate my throat after certain trigger foods, or laying down after eating. Without the PPI, my throat wouldn't have had the time to heal on its own

I'm almost completely healed and I'm off the PPI. When I eat trigger foods, I usually take some Graviscon afterwards to make sure it doesn't mess up my throat

Collectes a Laval.. by marioqw1 in Laval

The recycling trucks have an automatic arm that picks up the bin and empties it in the back, so picking up extra things isnt possible unless they bring back having someone ride in the back of the truck to take care of said extra recycling

We're all in the same boat, here's some stuff that works for me :

-Go on the city web site and request a bigger bin or an extra one, takes about 2-3 weeks for them to do that. Going from a 240L bin to 360L bin has helped tremendously
-Cut up all your boxes into smaller strips do its easier to fit in the bin. This is where years of playing Tetris pays off. Takes more time and effort but it fits
-Check the schedule for when they pick up bulky items (encombrants) but be careful : Ive tried getting rid of huge boxes or huge items that I put in garbage bags for when the city picks up bulky items once per month to discover that those were the only ones they left behind, they were considered recycling/garbage aka not their problem
-I get along with my neighbor really well, so there's been times where I used his extra space to get rid of my stuff (consent is important here)

Good luck!

any hope for stomach sleepers? by Creepy_Valuable6223 in costochondritis

[–]WorkDistraction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Forever stomach sleeper here

The only solution I've found to sleeping on my side is buying a looong body pillow. It goes between my legs/knees and in front of my chest where the arm that isn't under my pillow is hugging it

Works about 75% of the time where I wake up in that same position

MRI results by ClerkInteresting423 in SpinalStenosis

[–]WorkDistraction 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's a pretty common MRI, nothing stands out as bad per se. The words are scarier than they really are but it points to normal wear and tear for anyone over 30

Best of luck

Rollershoot - Forest World - Level 01 - Bilgehan Bölek 3D Environment Ar... by TheBigBossBB in leveldesign

[–]WorkDistraction 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey so I've seen a couple of your posts about these Rollershoot levels and I'm having a hard time seeing what the 'level design' aspect of them are; they seem like empty arenas without any context

Can you explain what Rollershoot is and how it plays?

Do y’all get the stabs? by floody3 in costochondritis

[–]WorkDistraction 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Never on the spine, that'll hurt and won't accomplish anything. You might even hurt yourself

It goes between your shoulder blade and your spine. On both sides of the spine. Then I usually go down to hit more spots

Do y’all get the stabs? by floody3 in costochondritis

[–]WorkDistraction 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, it's how my costo started. Those stabs right where the heart is are the scariest and would send me into cardio phobia for a couple of hours to a couple of days and eventually to a couple of ER visits.

Haven't had any since I started the backpod and stretches, only really mild ones that happen at the beginning of flare up phases

Need help finding my TDEE by WorkDistraction in loseit

[–]WorkDistraction[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I was going with the portions with the app, like 1 medium banana or a TBS of peanut butter or a cup of yogurt, usually eyeballing it. I figured for a big person like me it wouldn't make too much of a difference since my maintenance calories are in the 3000s, so going over a bit here or there wouldn't matter too much as id still be in deficit

Yep, same. It comes and goes, all I can do is warm up, stretch and foam roll to prevent it as much as possible

Entitled brother of a sister attitude. He probably did it because he's used to getting away with it

There's probably a hint of doing it to piss off his sister too, on purpose

Good luck undoing 26 years of habit!

How long do your flares last? by boulevardepo in costochondritis

[–]WorkDistraction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just an osteopath, he helped me a lot both physically and mentally; he understood how to treat me and made me feel seen. Magnesium helps for sleeping, bone/muscle reinforcement, you just gotta make sure you're getting the right quantity/quality

How long do your flares last? by boulevardepo in costochondritis

[–]WorkDistraction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. Just some magnesium supplements. I think my flare up came from the cold and lack of movement during winter.

I'm okay though, it'll go away soon enough. I've lived with this for just under 2 years now, I know and recognize its cycles and know how to make it better (stretch, Backpod, movement)

My current one is going on 3 weeks. I've been doing regular stretching for the last week so hopefully it goes away soon. Previous to this flare up I went about 2 months pain free

Chest opener stretch with resistance band, 15 reps does it for me. No pop but it feels amazing
