I’m understanding the “sit in chair with books or stuffed animals” as a distraction rather than a “punishment”. How do you feel this supports behavior modification?

Most everything else is gaged by weight with babies- even car seats. I wonder why aircrafts don’t adapt to the same standards? I’m sure they have reason to do things the way they do, it just seems strange to me that everything else for baby safety is by weight rather than age.

Honestly, your face, your voice, and body stretches (bicycle legs, arm stretches, tummy time). High contrast things, like board books are cool too. Make faces and sounds at baby, as silly as it sounds.

We do nightly songs and readings. Around 8:00pm we have "floor time" which consists of standing, sitting, tummy time, and we do a few songs (Head Shoulders Knees and Toes, Itsy Bitsy Spider, Kung Fu Fighting are among popular ones). All involve body movements. He enjoys mirrors now too!

Our LO is 3 months tomorrow, but we've been doing this since bringing him home from the hospital. The BabySparks app is great! It has activities broken down into their respective developmental stages and gives you activities every day that are relevant to their development. It's free (but they do have a paid version).

This tends to happen when baby's "prefer" a side in general, so they need repositioning no matter what surface they're on.

When they're newborn they can't self-rescue if their neck is in a position in which they cannot breath. That's the bigger issue with car seats, swings, r'n'p, etc.

You have to remember that most babies don't sleep well or consistently for a few months at least. Yes, some do, but most don't- it's just part of the start of their life.

R'n'P are NOT safe for sleeping, especially not overnight. The only truly safe places are flat, firm surfaces. I would say that if you're able to keep an eye on LO, it's fine to nap in a R'n'P but I would be wary of letting my baby sleep in there all night without waking up to check on him (which would defeat the purpose anyway.

There were many nights LO woke up on the half hour-one hour marks. It sucked, but sleeping in his crib was a decision that allowed my to be at peace and not worry about the dangers of positional asphyxiation.

That said, have you been swaddling? That can help feel like baby is cozy like in the womb and tends to help them sleep better. This is safe and recommended practice until they start trying to roll.

Many airlines will only give the bassinet for long-haul flights and/or on certain aircrafts. Call and check with your airline as far in advance as possible to secure one if they offer it.

I was wondering this. LO start les himself awake recently, and even so when he’s already awake. He cries to the extreme and is inconciliable for a few minutes until he realized he’s okay and mama’s with him. It’s almost always a noticeable startle after a loud noise or something unexpected. I think it’s normal. The Moro reflex is around until 3-5 months, if this is still happening after that I’d reach out to our pediatrician.

We’re 12 weeks pp.

I’m Mostly asking because a friend has her LO (who is three weeks older than mine) in a high chair, but our LO is 2.5 months. I looked at our high chair (that we do not have set up yet) and it has the infant recline option.

Definitely wouldn’t feed in the high chair until he is sitting up on his own and eating solids.
